Big Year For Carlson

Assuming he is allowed back (with all the others too), I expect John Carlson to have an even better year than last. He has a penchant for getting open down the middle and having good YAC. Also, he possesses prettty darn good hands! Him having a great year is not only nice to have on a wishlist, it could be critical. Having a weapon like that for a new QB is a must!

agreed. preseason watch lists seem to be all-important. but i think it will be harder for him to match his numbers (per game) just b/c defenses won't have to worry about rhema and jeff. no doubt our young receivers should be good, but i don't think they'll demand the attention of samardjiza and mcknight right off the bat.

I agree. and I hope that's true. but I think at least right off the bat, other defenses may not know that. plus, Carlson is no longer an unknown either. I'm thinking of last year vs. Penn St. and MSU where Carlson had some huge games. I think he can still have those, but I think it'll be harder at least early on as defenses may key on him until the other receivers prove themselves.

Then again, if opposing defenses key on him, perhaps that opens it up for our WR's or a halfback pass. Dammit, they can't cover everyone! It's gonna be fun to watch, cant wait!

Any chance he gets stuck blocking alot with an inexperienced qb and line. Hope not but still a concern, watch the Sugar Bowl (on second thought don't)

Alot of what he does on the field will depend on the WR's, they will have alot a room to work with as teams key on Carlson down the middle. If they can step up and make plays, and if Allen can establish himself as big play threat, this will open up things for Carlson.

He will the guy is tough over the middle and is a mismatch for almost anyone, he also has good speed and great hands for a big guy.
