I don't give a crap about that kid anymore. We have a few kids moving to the DL after being recruited for OL. This class is awesome, I would say close to being the best ever. Brian Smith is perfect for ND, and I'd rather have him than some kid like Trattou that leaves on "rumors" of a 3-4.

Trattou leaving had no impact at all in getting Brian Smith, he would've commited long ago if he had been given an offer. It' really apples and oranges. My guess is that after missing out on so many LB's ND had to turn elsewhere and came across Brian Smith as someone that could be a decent fit. I also think Corwin Brown also looked into some of the players that wanted to come to ND but got no offer under Minter and he liked what he saw with Smith.

JUST FOR THE RECORD THOUGH, I think it's more important that we got a guy who really wants to be at ND. Smith seems like a great kid and I do not wish we had Trattou instead of him... Even though we need some pass rushers more, I am extremely happy that Smith is on his way. It's a great thing to see a kid who is a "fit" for the school. A kid who cares about the school. That matters most of all.

JT's situation actually reminded me a lot of Urban's interviewing process. He really liked ND but in the end, the easier way out was a bigger draw.

You know I didn't get worked up over this situation. I agree 5-stars have the best potential to be great but I would much rather have a kid that is a 3-star with a want to be at ND and understand what ND is about and the benefits it can bring.
