Worst season for me as a fan.

Too many expectations and none of them met.

That's the funny thing about this season...it was about missed expectations, rather than a "bad" season.

Exactly. It was a much better season than Boob or Tytanic ever put together but it was more painful to me than a BC field goal.

the media keeps focusing on how bad and over rated this team is. the stat i like is in the past 4 years the records have been; 5-7, 6-6, 9-3, and 10-3. It looks like the program is headed in only one dirrection.

I find it funny that the media is talking about how over-rated the team is when the media are the people that put all the hype on the team at the beginning of the season.

It was a 9-3 season. So as far as I'm concerned it wasn't bad. Maybe not what I wanted it to be, but not bad. There were some great games. Being from Pennsylvania, I loved the victory over Penn State. What about Michigan State? So for me the 2006 was not what it could have been, but now I'm just looking ahead to next year.

The team has made strides. They beat who they are supposed to beat, but there have been no upsets so far... However, compared to 1997-2004 that's a definite improvement.

Baby steps have been taken. I'm hoping that sooner or later, it all comes together. It's a shame that Quinn and Shark will be gone and not part of that return to grace, but it's a new chapter.

You must have bought into all the preseason hype. I knew from watching us give up 600 yards to Ohio State that this season was not gonna bring a NC or even top 5 finish. looking at who returned on defense, the gaps we had to fill. NC aspirations were far fetched.

I predicted 10-3 with losses to Michigan, USC, and a Bowl loss. So the season played out much like I expected other than the blowouts. I expected to be competitive. So I was disappointed too. But the Faust, Davie, and Willingham years were far worse for me than this season.

To me...........losing isn't so bad except when you get blown out. The 3 games we lost were pitiful...........especially to SC. I don't mind losing 12 games.............as long as we're competitive. I was looking for tough & nasty.......& it was never there!...In spite of what some people think........you don't need 4-5 star players to play that way. I've been a fan before most of you were born, & believe me.............this season hurt pretty bad.

aree gipper went to my first game in 65 and this season has been hard on my bones...today didn't help either...some will say...well we can't get them all...no we can't but when you get blowed out you loose very good ones that would have come on board!

Really, and a 6-5 year not that long ago wasn't bad? My how soon we all forget. I'm so sick of the sour grapes today. Not just you, not just this board. I've never seen so much whining from Irish fans. I think I'm gonna take a break from these boards.

My only expectation and hope was to not get clown-stomped by every good opponent we played.

Thats cool. You can be happy that everyone in the workplace gets to laugh at you all season.

Personally I'm sick of it.

I truly feel in my heart of hearts that CW will turn this ship around...I don't like the way our defense is going at all but I will give the staff the benefit of the doubt for this next few minutes (that by nuclear clock time by the way). We have a long....long....long way to go folks so we better start getting prepared to be po'd before we will find nurvanna. Minter must be put on a tight leash, and I don't see us getting much more d talent this year. We do have a lot of young people available next year but as we saw this year very few can come on and make a difference as freshman unless they are the top group and we aren't getting many of those players...(I know we got a few last year and so far a couple...this year) but the majority have gone to other schools. We must be more competative to attract the best players...many don't want to rebuild the want to continue a dynasty...what helps us is we are ND! That will not last forever my friends...

Unless next years starters are all Weis' guys, we aren't gonna see nasty next year either. You see, Willingham didn't recruit "nasty" players. The guys he recruited do not play with a chip on the shoulder. As much as we would like to say that Willingham's mark on our program is gone, he will be influencing this team as long as his "nice players" are on the field.

You are right, you don't need to be a 5 star recruit to play with attitude. But this team, much like most of Ty's recruits, has Ty's passive personality.
