Very fun home slate. Also pretty cool to see them play in Brooklyn, good stuff Jack.

Lots of challenging opponents. Still hate hockey east. My strongest feeling about Merrimack is frustration about how I don't even know where they are. Wish the CCHA were still the status quo.

They are just outside of Boston...like all HE teams except ND...

The "opening" (exhibition) game against Guelph is tonight. Hopefully there will be a bigger-than-usual crowd because of the football game. Last year the team lost the exhibition game, and it was an early sign that it was going to be a rough season.

Irish lead Penn State 4-1 halfway through the 2nd period. You can listen to it (and all ND hockey games) on WatchND here, and you can also watch this game online through the PSU website here.

So the Irish beat Penn st. 7-4. Pretty good win considering both teams are on the fringe of being top 25 with votes.

Was wondering if someone could answer a question I have. It seems some of the ND players have been drafted: Fogarty, Lucia probably others. Now did they spurn the draft to play college hockey, like is common in baseball? Or are they actually part of the NHL farm system and are playing in college while still prospects for their pro teams?

They are drafted, and part of the 'system' in the sense that they could leave college and play somewhere in their NHL team's system (e.g., Vince Hinostroza left after last year and is playing for the Blackhawks now). They can of course stay and finish their degrees, as Mario Lucia is doing.

After tying Minnesota-Duluth again last weekend and sweeping UConn on the road yesterday (2-1 final at the XL Center in Hartford) and today (8-2 final at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn), the Irish have moved into 14th in the PairWise rankings. They will take on Minnesota on Friday and Saturday at the CFIA for the final round of "Lucia vs. Lucia."

Is there a stream for the game?

There isn't consistent TV coverage for home games: you get NBC Sports, or NESN, this 'American Sports Network' (which I have never heard and carried the game tonight), some internet subscription stream, etc. The UND.com game previews usually say what sort of TV coverage or internet stream is available. Tomorrow's game (6:40pm start) is on NBC Sports Network, so you could probably find a bootleg internet stream of it if you don't get NBCSN.

Audio play-by-play for every game, home and away, is carried in South Bend on 99.9 FM and online for free on WatchND. The announcer, Darin Pritchett, is the one talking on the highlight video below and does a great job imo.

An exciting win before a big crowd! It looked as though the Irish hockey team wanted to remind everyone of the USC game when they blew the lead: as Coach Jackson often says, a two goal lead is the most dangerous in hockey. The response from ND was tremendous. Hopefully no more five minute majors for awhile.

This could be a special team...

The Irish are now 9-4-4, and 6-1-2 in Hockey East. They are also 5-3 against BC and 4-1 (!) in Chestnut Hill since joining Hockey East in 2013. To put it in greater perspective, BC has been rated in the top 3 for five of those games and in the top 10 for all of them.

You can watch the second game of the series against Western Michigan on CBS Sports Network, and listen to the Notre Dame play-by-play (which is excellent imo) online here and on 99.9 FM in South Bend.

#13 ND beat Merrimack at Compton 5-1 tonight after beating them last night by a 7-2 score moving to 12-4-7 for the season and 8-1-2 in Hockey East.

ND moved its unbeaten streak to 10 games (7-0-3), dating back to Nov. 28.

Our offense has been very strong lately. Hope we can keep it up so we can play in the frozen four against an opponent I've heard of. Quinnipiac is #1 in the country right now and, as I've said before, I have absolutely no strong feelings about that team. Would rather play Central MI, LSSU, MSU, OSU, etc.
