ESPN is running wild with this now. I get that its technically an illegal play, but what he did had no impact on the game whatsoever. The ball was already going out of bounds and he could have let it go or just recover it amd nothing would be different. People are always saying they dont want refs to change the outcome of the game but calling a penalty on some bullshit like that likely would have caused the lions to win instead. Refs could throw a flag every single play according to the rulebook but nobody wants to see that, this one had the right outcome

Controversy sells. ESPN are the kings. Just the latest stupid thing. Prepare to hear about nothing but this tomorrow in the sports media.

Okay...so ND/Navy 2008....Robby Parris batted an onside kick out of bounds and got called for it. I was at that game when Navy almost came back in a monsoon. I actually was waiting for the flag here. It's a dumb rule, but it was pretty blatant.
