Now that this season is over. Heres what has gone good and bad.

The good:
-Brady Quinn, although did not play very well in big games, is still a hell of a QB and person. His stock will probably drop in the draft. But I hope it does so that he will go to a better team that has TALENT.

-Sam Young, one the best freshman out of all the nations freshman. He is the only thing that I could trust other than Brady.

The Bad:
- THE DEFENSE!!!!! Absolutely terrible. I dont care what everybody says, RICK MINTER IS A PIECE OF SHIT. HE HAS TO GO NOW..

Thank god this season is over. Too many headaches when the games matter the most. I am more excited about next year than this year. With back to back TOP 5 recruiting classes, we will have the speed and talent to compete. But only is MINTER GOES!!!!

I don't like Minter. But I honestly don't think he is the problem. Mattison had great defenses at Michigan, then shitty defenses at ND, and now great defenses at Florida. Did he simply forget how to coach while at ND or might we lack some talent?

Well the talent isnt there. Going from 2-3 star recruits (willinghams) to 4-5 star recruits (charlies) will make a huge difference.

now that the season is over. . . . . . It is going to be a painful 8 months to get over this game. We better kill Georgia Tech in Sept.

NDs defense, talent level aside, has been pathetic for such a high level program. I can't remember one game in 2 years in which the defense played great. Lack of talent is one thing, but to continuously underperform means a coaching change is needed. I don't care if he is a good recruiter or not, he has not shown ANY defensive skill in 25 games.

Are you talking about Weis or Minter?

That is EXACTLY my point. The coachinf staff has changed 3 times and all 3 fielded crappy defenses. At some point in time you've got to ask yourself if all of our DC' suck, or if it's a talenmt issue. And why can Mattison succeed everywhere but ND? You can't judge a coach before you give him sonmething to work with.

Well if you remember in his first stint, Minter was demoted so he has the history of not getting it done. Mattison couldn't get the job done either and if he was that good at Michigan they wouldn't have let him leave. The only reason Mattison was kept around is because he was a great recruiter, and at Florida his title is co-defensive coordinator, but Charlie Strong runs the defense.

Well, the WHOLE TEAM played like shit tonight. I think, sad to say, that Weis got out coached in the second half. I don't want to lynch Weis or anything, but it wasn't just the defense that looked crappy tonight.

On the mark on all points!

When Mattison came to ND I had a well connected Wolverweasel friend tell me, "you're getting a great recruiter but you're not going to be happy with your defense." I pointed out Mattison's defense had done well and he replied, "He's got great position coaches who are doing most of the work he gets credit for. I'm not bad mouthing him but ND fans think they're getting another Barry Alverez as DC. He's not the guy to build great defenses like ND used to have. But he's a balls out recruiter.

He's co-cordinator at UF due to his seniority and his recruiting ability. Strong makes the calls.

Absolutely correct. CW was outcoached by a large margin. The same obvious pass plays to Samrdzjia, (where were the other WR's?) sticking to the game plan at all costs, no adjustments at half time, the Ol just flat out STUNK and BQ had no time to throw in the
2nd half. We throw for 5 yards and LSU throws for 10 yards a play, etc., etc., etc.

The D playing a soft zone was absolutely horrible. No checking of the WR's at the line, tons of missed tackles, etc.

I am disgusted. Hopefully CW's recruits will change this. As far as Minter, maybe he has no choice but to play the D this way because of lack of talent.
