I guess minter told charlie to go ahead and fake punt.
(first reply to this thread will be that weis went for it because he had no confidence in the defense)
They gave the offense the ball in great scoring position,only for the offense to blow it.It could have been 21-21 at the half.

The second half was great too.The offense looked real good didn't they?They got to sit on their tushes for 9 minutes thinking what to do when they get the ball back and it's 3 and out.Then another 3 and out after the defense holds lsu to 2 field goals and the game was still not out of reach.

I also recall several of you saying earlier this year that even though the defense wouldn't be that great,the offense will outscore everyone.Now this game will just start the minter crap all over again(as if it's left).Maybe some of you that want minter's head so much should come to the realization that most of these guys aren't much better then the talent on buffalo's defense.

or maybe it wasn't the offense that gave up on the defense this year,but vice-versa.This offense to me this year looked like one of davie's or willingham's teams.You know the ones that when the ball went in the air,you closed your eyes to either hear the crowd chear(if at the game)or hear the announcer say first down( if watching it on the tube) because those catches were few and far between.

I will agree with you in that the fake punt was the first play that I can really remember ever thinking what a bozo play call this particular coach just made. Unfortunately, it was one you could see coming a mile away. Travis Thomas looked like he was on PCP behind the line before that snap.

41 points and 500+ yards is not great. They played good in the first half for the most part. After that, every play seemed to be Ndukwe 10 yards behind the reception...where were the CBs???

The fake punt was a DUMB call. But we still would have gotten destroyed. It made little differnce in the out come of the game. Minter sucks, and so does our talent level. Minter needs to go NOW.

So the last 3 DC's fail to field a good defense. Wee they all crappy coaches? Mattison fields great defenses at every school he coaches at other than ND. This doesn't tell you anything?

Minter might not be a great coach, but you gotta give him somethign to work with before you judge him. You can only take so many chances on defense when you are slow in the secondary, soft up front, and have zero pass rush. I don't think any coach in the country could field a respectable D with Ty's crappy recruits.

Ok I'll tell you what, I am going to say this and then I think I will not come on this site again...minter completely sucks his scheme was horrible to say the least...CW surprised me with his lack of intelligent play calling...brady fucking quinn sucks ass under pressure as I have been saying for 4 years we are slow as snails and for having a 3.0 avg gpa we sure have some simpletons for players. Our o line blows they couldn't block consistently (notice I said consistently...for all you smart asses) and I am also completely fed up with people getting attacked on this site by you football genouses ( I spelled that wrong...no shit) when ever they express an opinion...no being pissed does not make me a fair weather fan you jack asses it makes me a fanatical fan....maaaaan I feel better...and I didn't even have a beer tonight just think how it could have been...I am fed up with a large portion of you people good freakin luck . Where the hell was the offense the whole second half?

I believe the offense was on the sideline most of the second half. At one point it was 4 plays 1:40(?) to 20 plays and 9:40(?), not that it would have mattered much, ND stunk that place up. I sure hope CW starts calling his plays better, I got a little tired of calling out the draw plays. No pressure down the field. Hopefully next year will yield some quality wins, I don't think we had too many this year. I believe the most horrific stat of all is the fact that LSU, USC and Michigan put up something like 1300 yards on our defense. Ouch. It's been tough through Davies and Ty, but for some reason it seems to sting a bit more with CW, I think it's cause the expectations. Anyhow, hopefully this game hasn't turned any recruits away, unfortunately, I think it has.

We just had a 9 and 10 win season back to back...with an absolute lack of depth and talent on D.

Considering the previous 2 seasons of 5 & 6 wins...I will fucking take it.

Oh, by the way, Holtz was unable to string together back to back 9 win seasons with a team that had oodles of talent...

The first 3 years are truly REBUILDING years. We went to the BCS in back to back years... That was only a dream before. Imagine how good the team will be with real talent.

I think this is a good point. everyone knew the defense was in trouble before the game started, but the offense really disappointed. They got a fumble deep in LSU territory, but they fail to get any points out of it. I was dissapointed in the game plan becase Carlson and Mcknight weren't more involved. The defense was to tired in the second half. They depend on the offense to run the balland score a lot of points, but they couldn't, so you knew it was going to be a long game.

If our "defense was in trouble before the game started", then why are we not scheming better? Good schemes hide the lack of talent on "D", and this is a coaching issue solely placed on Minter's and especially Bill Lewis's shoulders. We play a basis 4-2/nickel "D", with no movement. It's garbage!
