Any tips on NFL? I put $10 in the beginning of the season and haven't won squat. Gonna put another $10 in this week and see what happens. I usually always do really well in all of my season long fantasy leagues but have yet to find the right method to winning anything in Daily Fantasy.

In general, spend your money on elite WRs that are going to produce every week (own Julio or Antonio Brown every week). Don't spend on DST or TE - just pick the lowest priced that you like the best and keep your fingers crossed (when in doubt, pick home DSTs and TEs in good offenses). Get a QB that will get you something, but you don't need to buy the most expensive guy. I like to look for the lowest priced QB in a game with a high O/U. RBs, just make sure you're going to get touches and hope you luck into a TD or two. If you play on DK (my strong preference is for DK over FD), it is PPR and you can usually find a lower priced RB who is featured in the passing game (if you played Danny Woodhead the last couple weeks you spent nothing and got great production, for example).

That is the abridged version of my playbook. I've played for about a year and overall I'm up a little bit. Last year I was kind of dipping my toe in to see if I liked it/got it. I'm starting to take it a little more seriously now, which means developing my own ranking/projection tools and using them to spit out lineups for me to play.

Oh, also: beware that the really serious players have finely tuned tools that do what I'm trying to do, and they play hundreds and even thousands of lineup combinations every week. So the games are kind of rigged against you - especially the bigger the player pool. When you start out, get into single-entry contests and play the 50/50s and maybe a few multipliers. Don't mess around with the big tournaments unless you get a free entry. So many guys that do this for a living have hundreds of entries. It is worse odds to win a million dollars on DFS than it is to win the lottery. Don't waste any real money on that.

I know the odds aren't good but I have been #1 in golf, baseball and NCAAF long enough to get my hopes up. Still haven't pulled it off and my biggest single day winnings is probably around $400, but one day I will, dern it! And I only get in $1, $2 or $5 buy ins at most, so $400 wasn't a bad return. So far this year I am up winning $150 the first two weeks of college football.

Not sure if I posted this previous or not. But I played the NBA on FD a few times last season. Always got in to the $1, multi entry, large pool that paid big $ to win. Until one day I decided to go back in after and see who won and what their entries were. The same guy took the top 3 spots, with the exact same entry for all 3, for $3k per entry. I noticed there were a few people that would do the $1 buy in and enter like 3 entries a few times each. And if one of them happened to hit, like this guys did, he was out all of $10 for his multiple entries and won $9k. After that I only entered in to single entry pools with a smaller pool.

What is Fan Duel's deal? They are not getting CFB leagues out there very fast at all. They have earl and late right now but no all day. And they didn't have any until Tuesday. I would think they would want to have them out there sooner and get more people involved.

Did well on my Thursday/Friday CFB on FD only to bust on Saturday early and late and once again bust on Sunday.

Wondering what your guys strategies are and do you use any websites for insider information.

Seen a guy win $25,000 on the NFL for Sunday and he hit on every damn pick. Just don't understand how these guys do it sometimes, I can pick maybe 4 to 5 solid guys but I always seem to miss big.

I do know that I have been more successful with CFB than NFL.

Well a lot of guys play multiple lineups. That plus the fact that those large tourneys have so many people it's not surprising to see the winner hit on every pick. But money can be made outside of hitting the big one. My strategy in DK is to get cheap RB's that catch passes since DK has one ppr and also cheap RB's that may be getting a start due to injury. That frees me up to buy the QB i want and the money WR's. Now this strategy puts me in the money on 50/50's more often than not and I also win some on the bigger tourneys. My lineup this week.....

Tom Brady
Darren Sproles
Devonta Freeman
Antonio Brown
Julio Jones
Donte Moncrief
Eric Ebron
Danny Woodhead
Seahawks D

That team is currently 189 out of 7656 in a larger tourney, good for 50 bucks on the 9 I put up. But that team is easy money in the three 50/50's I'm in. Now obviously I don't win every week but I'm gonna be up about 250 after 3 weeks of NFL. I guess my tip is just enjoy it. None of us are likely to win the big money anytime soon.

PS- This is DK info. I know FD had different lineups and different player pricing which probably makes this post useless, haha.

Making my picks for the THU/FRI slate and the early on SAT on FD. Anyone have any hidden gems?

Two guys I am using for Thu/Fri are Mark Walton and Max Morrison. Walton is only 5500, and Cincinnati has no run defense. I am figuring even though Walton isn't the starter he'll still his yards and possible TD's. Morrison has been coming on in his role with Cincy and since they will be passing the ball a lot, he should be worth the $6000.

Insanity, it really depends on matchups for me. I always research the defense vs. the players I like. So for instance, with Aaron Burbridge only being $6100 this weekend going against Purdon't, I really like him. Same with Patrick Skov and the GT ground game against UNC in a week they really need something.

In Fan Duel, I check the avg FPPG listed for players, the history behind it (meaning have they had good numbers the past few weeks). Consistency is key.

I had good scores in college, but apparently so did everyone as I got skunked in everything except a couple 50/50's.

Did better in pro and got close to winning some real money in the sun/mon leagues. Am in line to win some in Mon/Thurs if Flacco/Smith can do anything. Otherwise I won't win squat.

So I do ok in CFB but I am absolutely horrible at picking NFL.

With that being said I also took Burbridge and Skov because of price and hopeful output. I also heard a lot about Houston QB Ward and at 9200 he is better than spending the crazy money on TCU or Baylors QBs. FSU RB Cook I think is a pretty good pick up as well agains Wake at 7700.

Looks as good as any. I almost took ayers, too. Its a good idea to double up your points on qB/WR when possible.

Unless it's higbee, tight ends are a real toss up this year. Just go cheap if you need to and make more room for more expensive $kill positions.

I might be a little concerned with the point totals your RB's will give you. Williams is probably the starter this week, but the Giants have one of the best running defenses. And Dunbar is behind Randle on the depth chart and probably won't get many touches.

Dunbar had 10 catches for 100 yds last week against a touch ATL D. He holds some value, just not usually in running.

Not sure if he can match those numbers though, they will have to get the ball to Terrence Williams is they want to have any success in the down field passing game. I don't think they can just dump it off to Dunbar and be successful.

I agree. At this point their offense is a guess for anyone. Dunbar caught 10 last week and Williams 0.

Ward Jr was a great pick up, he's having a huge game and wasn't expensive at all.

Rolling with this lineup going into tomorrow:

Andy Dalton vs KC

Latavius Murray @ Chicago

Karlos Williams vs Giants

ODBj @ Buffalo

Julio Jones vs Houston

Donte Moncrief vs Jacksonville

Charles Clay vs Giants

Melvin Gordon vs Cleveland

Packers D @ SF

A little worried about Melvin Gordon in my flex. I was thinking I could go really cheap at my 2nd RB instead of Murray and use someone like Rawls, if Marshawn is ruled out, or Dunbar for the PPR factor. If I downgrade I could most likely put AJ Green in my flex and get the stack with Dalton.
