what a game that was. Boise is for real. How bout the hook and lateral and statue play? 2 of the best plays Ive ever seen executed in such critical moments in such a big game. That 2 point conversion had OU so fooled that Johnson couldve walked in.

How about the wedding proposal at the end? What guts that took. In 3-5 years do you think he will have her served with divorce papers at the end of the Suprbowl?

Just kidding.

I actually thought his decision to propose on national TV was gutsy, romantic, with style points to boot.

half of me thinks Fox set that up for drama being that Fox just cant do anything without some kind of reality BS.

I was dead tired and had to get up for work early this morning, so I went to bed after the OU interception for a TD w/ 1+ min. to go. I assumed that it was all but over .... shame on me!

that game was great. with the emotion in that game to pull off those two plays when they did it was one of the greatest coaching jobs that has been done in college ever. I mean if one of those plays doesn't work then the coach is going to catch h*ll for his play calling.

i've been trying to find a pic of Johnson's girl, heard she was hot, but not having any luck.

on the game, that was a classic and I don't think Fox set that up. I thought the games that fox has done so far have been great. No complaints on the announcers yet. Still like the ESPN crew of Griese, McGuire and Nesser the best.

ESPN.com has a picture of him proposing to her on their website.

Johnson actually got the idea while attending the Insight Bowl at Sun Devil Stadium last week. One of the Fiesta Bowl committee members, Tyler Hanson, suggested to Johnson that he propose postgame.

This is from the Pat Forde article on ESPN about the game. I don't think Fox set it up but it sounds like the Fiesta bowl execs did have a hand in how the proposal went down. And yes, she was hot.

I stayed up for the whole thing and I could care less about either BSU or OU but that was the gutsiest performance I've ever seen from a football team, it about broke my heart when they almost lost. That's how college football is meant to be played!

Todd.

Ok while last nights game was awesome. I can't believe I stayed up that late watching I just have to say the title of the thread is off. The best Fiesta Bowl in my mind would be '88 when we won the title. While not the exciting finish of last night I will remember that game alot longer then this one.

Well, the 1988 Fiesta Bowl was a great game as well - Florida St beat Nebraska 31-28. If you mean the 1989 Fiesta Bowl when I popped the cork on my welch's looks-like-wine-but-its-really-grape-juice bottle after ND put that game away in the 2nd quarter......well, I have to disagree.

Obviously that Fiesta Bowl is forever immortal, im talking pure content here, last night is rivaled only by last years Rose Bowl......I still give the nod to last nights game.

I'm so glad I watched it. I was so close to passing out from having watched every bowl game that day. Really, how amazing was that? It was almost scripted, it was so awesome.

1. The 3 times that OU had to go for the 2-point conversion, because of penalties.
2. The pick-six, seemingly cementing an improbable win for OU.
3. The drive down the field and the "hook and lateral" (never seen it work anywhere near that effective, because people usually only use it on the last play, not the second to last play)
4. Overtime
4a. The gutsy 4th and 2 pass for the TD for Boise (receiver threw the ball, QB went in motion).
4b. Of course the Statue of Liberty. I have never seen or even dreamed that it could work that well. No one knew where the ball was because you never see someone hand it off behind the back . I saw the hand-off 3 times in slow motion and still couldn't find the ball.

The behind the back handoff...pure genius. I watched it over and over on Tivo. God, he was fast...and never flinched.

I read an article where one of the BSU guys said that when they called the Statue of Liberty in the huddle, he said to the guys in the huddle "we are going to win this!!!"

With all due respect to BQ AND JR, that Boise QB has got some poise. I'll bet his balls set off alarms in airports.

The gutsy call the Broncos made are why teams with seemingly nothing to lose are so dangerous.
