Irish try to avoid setting bowl loss record

I knew that we had lost 8 straight, but didn't know that this tied us with South Carolina for the record. If we lose to LSU, we hold the record outright.

Man I hope we beat them. Not only would that be the signature win that has alluded Weis, but it would give us momentum for recruiting and get the monkey off our back. We have SO many reasons to win this game. As far as motivation is concerned, the Irish should have a huge advantage.

Call me an optimist, but I really feel good about this game. I can't believe this team can come out flat 3 times in a row. We've got to come out sharp and score some points quick. There is so much riding on this game and a win would definitely be a strong push in the right direction. In regards to the consecutive losses in a bowl, we were outmatched against teams that were way better then us. The only reason we were in some of them bowls is because we're ND. I'm sure we will all have alot to talk about come January 4th.

If I'm not mistaken, BC is seeking it's sixth consecutive bowl victory. Funny how the reverse is happening at Nd.

Yeah, the Irish had a huge advantage as far as motivation, when they prepared for USC, too & look what happened. Don't get me wrong, I hope you're right. But I was disappointed that the offense & defense offered nothing new when they lined up vs. USC. Surely they'll show some new wrinkles vs. LSU.

The sad thing is that if we win it really won't change anyone's mind. They'll just adjust from saying "ND hasn't won a bowl game in the last 12 years" to saying "ND's only won one bowl game in the last 12 years, and that was to an overrated LSU team that didn't show up."

One game rarely changes anyone's mind on anything. So even if we beat LSU, we need to start winning these types of games consistantly if we want to ditch the "over rated" stigma thatg we have truly earned.

I wonder how many times this will be brought up during the game. Or how many times that dumb ass Mark May is going to bring it up.

Yup...

But in the end, they are still just BC. ;)

No doubt...when is the last time BC made a BCS bowl game?....yep...NEVER!!! You don't lose too many bowl games if you're not playing the best out there.

ND has been in 3 big BCS games since the beginning. So, 3 BCS losses in 8 years of our streak. Think about that. Substitute those 3 for the games Boston College has played:

2000-2001 Aloha (versus Arizona State 6-6/ND played Oregon State 11-1)
2005-2006 MPC Computers Bowl (versus Boise State 9-4/ND played Ohio State 10-2)
2006-2007 Meineke Car Care (versus Navy 9-4/ND playing LSU 10-2)

I think the streak may've been broken by now if you take that into account. ND gets selected for games that are ABOVE them simply because they are ND. So, they are consistently playing games that, at times, are above their talent level.

Screw BC and their "streak". Our "streak" ends on 1/3/2007 when the Irish tame the Tigers. GO IRISH!!

If only we could play Boise St and Navy in bowl games. You know, those shit bowl games no one cares about. Like the one Michigan played in last year.
