How much do you think our bowl game will impact BQ's draft position?

With the teams out there that are competing for the top draft picks, I can't see BQ falling below the 3rd overall pick of the first round.

Does anyone think he couild fall to the middle of the 1st round with a bad bowl game performance? I don't.

No way. I think people like Lorenzo Booker benefit from a huge Bowl Game if they have been a disappointment in their careers, but for the top guys 1 game doesn't mean anything. I don't think his performance in this game effects his draft position at all. This is the difference in philosophy between Pro Scouts and College football fans. CFB fans think a guy will be a great pro if he "is clutch", "plays big in the big games", "gets it done", "is just a winner" or is the best player on his team. Pro scouts look for physical attributes, intelligence, technique and potential. Jay Cutler played on a shit team and didn't have crazy stats but scouts could see his potential. Same thing with Duante Culpepper, all those MAC QB's etc. Brian Bosworth was a "Big Time" player in college and a punchline in the NFL. There is a reason college stars like Tommy Frasier, Charlie Ward & Jason White never made it in the NFL even though they were college studs.

I don't see his play in the Sugar Bowl affecting his status, unless he has a Grossman type of game, where he's making bonehead type plays. Most scouts know how good BQ is and know that he's basically been in an NFL system and will be ahead of the learning curve coming into camp. BQ to me is a Joe Montana type qb, but with the phyical attributes that coaches love in their qb's.

Brady has three (3) more shots to either impress or disappoint scouts and GMs.
Sugar Bowl, Senior Bowl, NFL combine. His draft status WILL be affected by his performance in all three. How much so remains to be seen.

I'm gonna bet that BQ skips the combine. He has nothing to gain and everything to lose by doing the combine.

Maybe...but he could be penalized for skipping it.
For example, Detroit's GM and player personel director could, after watching the Sugar Bowl (win?) and the Senior Bowl, contact Brady's agent.
They could, and this is done all the time, say...."We are almost sure we're going to take your client with the NFL's first pick but we'd like to see him, work him out, and give him a complete physical at the combine."
In which case the certainty of his status as the 1st pick would depend upon him showing up.
If he declined...he might be sacrificing a 1st pick's money for a 1st class ticket to Oakland, a lot less money and really bad situation.
Hopefully he has a good agent to guide him through this tricky time.

I don't think the bowl game can do anything but help BQ's stock for the draft.

I'm afraid of the catostrophic injury - blown knee, major shoulder injury etc. That could/would hurt his draft status. Just another reason why I hate bowl games. Major injury risk for very little reward.

considering how the Lions protect their QBs, I wouldn't blame BQ for skipping a workout. The Lions are where QBs go to die.

I agree, not so much by the scouts as much as the media. The media is salivating in hopes that the Sugar Bowl is a coming out party for JaMarcus Russell and an affirmation of what they've said about ND & Quinn all year...overrated. In other words, a bad performance may affect his perception in the general public's eyes as never winning the big game but it shouldn't drastically effect his draft status.

It'll be a lot like the Heisman award. The haters will rant that Quinn doesn't deserve #1 pick status, yadda, yadda, yadda. The haters can't differentiate college from the pros. No one deserves to be picked first overall (or in the top 3)...you earn it.

In a couple of months, everyone forgets about the bowl games, so I don't think it would matter.

With JaMarcus Russell looking like he'll be the consensus #2 QB in the draft, the obvious thing that will happen is a comparison of the two players. And Kiper and a couple of other gurus have mentioned that Quinn and Russell aren't that far apart in a lot of scouts' eyes so there are implications. Plus with Oakland having the 1st pick, you have to consider Al Davis's obsession with arm strength which is the one area where Russell has an advantage. But having said all this, I doubt there are big changes in either player's stock and Quinn should still be a pretty safe bet to be the 1st QB selected and one of the first players off the board.
