Ronnie Stanley not a Captain because of parking tickets

I too enjoy leaders who think the rules don't apply to them.

Parking restrictions on campuses aren't just stupid rules to make money. They're there because it's the only way to handle thousands of people coming and going to a small area every day. It's not some stupid aesthetic thing. They friggin suck to deal with, but that's society.

I agree 100 % with the argument for attention to detail. And I agree "more than" 100% with the idea of holding everyone accountable to the same standards.

But for me it gets a little fuzzy elevating unpaid parking tickets to preclude a player from being voted captain.

Eg. : If someone has a number of unpaid parking tickets (not operation or speeding), should they be precluded for running for a council or mayor's position in the community? I really don't think so. Should they be forced to bring things current? Maybe. And, of course if the voters are informed of the situation, and they make an informed decision one way or another, should it be respected? Hail yes, it is the decision of the people, those directly affected by putting the ticket getter in a position of authority!

I think we have put the cart ahead of the horse in just assuming that it is the school that is keeping Ronnie Stanley from being a captain? I mean, does it really make sense that the school would say, "You have unpaid parking tickets. You are ok to participate in Athletics, but you cannot be a Captain"? I would be really surprised to find out that the school would even care about captaincy (if a student was otherwise eligible to participate in Athletics). Maybe, if the parking thing is even real, it is more about a team rule, decided upon by the team Leadership Committee? If so, then it was his peers on the team that held up his captaincy, and while we may have opinions about it, those opinions would count for very little, if anything.

I would've loved to have seen the score had Ronnie not pooped his pants today.
