Mock Drafts are joke until the draft order is set...don't get me wrong though...I still can't get enough of them!

This one isn't so bad...I disagree with a few things. Most have already been mentioned (Smith and Zibby mainly).

Nice to see LSU the team we're playing soon has 4 first rounders on that list. Many NFL scouts will be watching that game. Some of the players on that list can really solidify their protection as a first round player with a great performance in that game.

The Lions will draft Quinn, I know that franchise is wacky but I can't possibly see them drafting someone else. I could defenitely see the Bucs at 3 try to trade up for Quinn.

Jeff Samardzija will not be a first rounder IMO unless he gives up baseball. NFL GM's aren't going to squander a first round pick on a guy who may not even play football, he may not go until the third round because historically second rounders are just as successfull as first rounders.

VA will be a first rounder or early second round player, no way does he fall lower than the second round, his measurables and speed are too good for teams to pass on him. Even though he hasn't had many sacks against good teams he still has been a productive pass rusher, and pass rushers are worth their weight in gold in the NFL. Most of Mario Williams sacks came against weaker competition as well.

Brett Farve will definitely come back if the Packers can land Peterson in the draft. Although Peterson has had injury problems there is no doubt in my mind that he will be great at the next level if healthy. With Tiki Barber retiring the Giants may be better off losing and not making the playoffs, so that they have a better chance at landing Peterson, or at least be high enough on draft day that they can trade up for him.

Paul Posluszny at 6 is WAY to high, I wouldn't even take him in the first round.

Troy Smith is too high, and no way does Nick Saban draft him. I think Troy might eventually develope into a QB, but regardless of what OSU fans tell you his height will hurt him, and he will have to adjust which may take him a few years. Saban isn't going to waste a first rounder on a guy that will take three or four years to develope.

Teddy Ginn probably should stay another year to develope, but he probably won't because OSU will be breaking in a new QB. Teddy's a helluva talent, but he's not going to just get by in the NFL with his speed like he has in college. He still has some facets of his game to work on to become a good NFL player, which is why he should stay his last year.

Bucs just extended Simms contract and money (starter money mind you). They will take the first and best LB available. They have the oldest Defense in the league.
No way there are 5 first rounders from ND.

Do you honestly think that Coach Weis would agree that the team lacks anything in public?

Now as far as the potential first rounders, I think that the Irish have not had better talent at the top, these last couple of years, in a long time, but not to see that the overall talent level is no where near the USC and OSU's of the world is being a bit miopic. Next year you will see alot of freshman and sophmore starters on both sides of the ball.

No, I don't think Weis would come out and say his team lacked speed and the talent level is mediocre and cannot match up to other elite programs. That's media sucide, and I'm sure his players wouldn't appreciate it. I think it's quite apparent how he feels that recruting was been put into triple overtime and he's driven his coaches to the edge to get recruits. He's even said so himself.

LOL, everyone except our Head Coach who says we have plenty of speed, and the NFL scouts agree...

But keep acting like the players suck

Who has said the players suck? The only person to use that adjective to describe our players has been you. Also, you don't really think the head coach is going to say to the media is that due to the lack of effort in past recruting classes that our Jr. and Sr. players lack the speed and talent to compete with the elite teams.

Exactly, we have gotten some good talent, but the the total level for those classes have been sub-par. and plus over half of the junior class has left the team.

Please tell me what Notre Dame player is "sub par"

We can play too—Some in the national media have suggested that the LSU Tigers might be the most physically gifted team in the country. Charlie Weis doesn't disagree, but he does take exception to those who portray Notre Dame as lacking athletic ability.

"(But) a lot of people think that we're not athletic, and I don't think that's a fair statement."

Seems Charlie Weis just doesn't agree with the folks on the internet trying to trash this team, ND fans and ND haters alike

Will the Bears really take Marcus Thomas from Florida?

Seeing as how he was kicked off the Florida team in November by Urban and the Bears already have Tank Johnson to babysit, I'd say I'm going to question the accountability of this mock draft.

If all those other ND players not named Quinn are going first round, this draft is awful light. Harris is solid, but that Spencer kid from Purdue beat him like he stole something.

For the fifth time do you really think that Weis is going to say publicly that he thinks his athletes are not up to par with the elite teams in the country? You cannot seem to answer this question. You have quoted Mel Kiper alot in the past. This is what he thinks of ND's talent level.

"Notre Dame's defense remains its liability. DL Victor Abiamiri and safety Tom Zbikowski make plays, but the Irish don't have enough athletes on that side of the ball"

"Defensive coordinator Rick Minter does a solid job of mixing up coverage looks to mask the unit's lack of speed in the secondary".

A head coach is not going to be objective (nor would I want him to be) about his level of talent, and Charlie is the LAST one to pass the buck or make excuses. But most respected sports analyist see the lack of overall talent on the defense. What makes you so special to say they are all wrong?

They will need to play mistake free, perfect football to win this game.

And it still might not be enough.

Quinn & Abiamiri would be my bets as the only 1st rounders. Like the previous poster said, Samardzija playing baseball will cost him a lot of money up front. I heard Chris Landry of FoxSports, who is their draft guru, say that he thought Zibby would be a 1st rounder IF that particular team needed a strong safety as a run stopper more than a pass defender. He compared him to Roy Williams at Dallas even though Williams is probably a better pass defender than zibby. Abiamiri will get the benefit of being double-teamed for most of the season, although I've read that the knock on him is that he tends to take too many plays off. I'd say Harris would be lucky to go on the 1st day, but then I remember Jordan Black, Sean Mahan, Luke Petitgout and others do well after average (some would say underachieving) college careers.

I think we'll have to be perfect and LSU will still have to help us a bit ala UF game. What scares me is that LSU seems to be clicking right now. It would sure make my year.
