For the love of all that is holy please STOP POSTING LINKS TO ESPN. IF YOU WANT SOMETHING TO BE READ, PLEASE COPY AND PASTE THE ARTICLE, UNLESS YOU WANT TO KEEP SUPPORTING AN ORGANIZATION THAT WILL PERPETUALLY DROOL OUT COMMENTARIES AS LONG AS PEOPLE KEEP CLICKING ON THE LINKS.

Question: Do you not like ESPN? Just curious as this is an interesting phenomenon that seems to be related to ND. I love ESPN. What is not like about a channel and website entirely devoted to sports? Every male friend that I have loves ESPN.

However, on various ND message boards there seems to be an ESPN backlash mentality. This is the only group of men I know that have a disdain for ESPN. Not judging mind you, just observing.

And I don't know anyone that does like espn. Probably the number one reason I hate them is there is no journalistic integrity. Everything is choreographed, which makes what they have to say seem somewhat fictional. That may be a little harsh, but when I watch some of those shows, I feel like everything being said is being said for ratings.

The hate has nothing to do with me being a Notre Dame fan. I could care less what they say about Notre Dame.

I also hate Michael Irvin. I hate most of those sideline reporters. And I hate espn for demoting Ron Franklin because he called one of those idiots "sweetheart". I also want Harold Reynolds back.

I do like watching college football games on the channel, and I will continue to do so, but that's about all I watch anymore.

Here's a few other thoughts on the matter.

The topic of this thread goes from the Springdale kids to the perpetual crappiness of ESPN.

Amazing.

ESPN is not CNN
Its sports entertainment....I want over the top opinions and useless debates like "best team ever"

the Channel is ENTERTAINING....people take it WAY to seriously, the funny thing is, everyone on the internet that "hates espn" does so because they think ESPN hates their program and only trashes it...

Its called the Hostile Media effect....look it up.....Its YOU, not ESPN

Reps to you.

Remember what ESPN stands for? The E is for... wait for it... ENTERTAINMENT.

I watch SportsCenter to get entertaining clips of fun plays from various games I would otherwise have no way of seeing.

I watch Around The Horn for the pacing, the humor, and the opportunity to yell at the screen when Jay Mariotti says something particularly idiotic.

I watch PTI to get very, very quick hits on what's going on the world of sports and to get a basic framework for the various topics that are being debated.

For actual sports NEWS, I look elsewhere: newspapers, websites, occasionally Sports Illustrated. But for sports-related fun, ESPN usually fits the bill for me.

I mean, hey, isn't that the point of sports anyway? To ENTERTAIN us? Crazy idea, I know...

For my money, PTI is the best sports show on ESPN.

I enjoy the love Kornheiser shows ND, and on the flips-side, the hate Wilbon shows. I think it is somewhat representative of most of the hatred in the media towards ND.

PTI is very good despite Wilbon being part of the Saunders/Whitlock Torch Bearing Club.

I guess we all have different tastes as to what "entertainment" means. PTI, The Season and the SportsCentury documentaries are about all I get use from out of ESPN.

I like Around the Horn even with that tool Jay Mariotti on it.

That show makes me laugh, and like Jigga said, PTI is good despite Wilbon.

boy that is a lot of hate. here is what you need to do. Pull atube but dont breath out. then chug a beer and then a shot. then exhale. That will take care of any rage you might still harbor.:alcohol:

Great thread!!! It has nothing to do with anything that is in the title other than the article. I like this thread about as much as I like ESPN. I hate it other than MNF.
