He's directionally correct. Whiskey can chime in about degree value, but I'm sure graduation rate alone is enough to say kids choosing ND are relatively making a smarter choice.
He didn't bring up the GSR once, which is why I said not majoring in football isn't what sets Notre Dame apart.
Even if you're correct in that ND offers underwater basket weaving, it's still better to go and graduate a higher % of time, from a university with a higher earning potential than to not graduate, or even graduate from the majority of state schools.
Well duh. But Farrell likely didn't have a committable offer from Notre Dame, and its not like Ohio State has major issues graduating it's white players. It's unfortunate that such context is necessary. I think their GSR for black players in the the %60s, which is awful, but speaking generally he's not taking the risk some here want to assume he is.
Then when you add in that we don't know what professional aspirations he has, there are simply too many variables from which to judge in my opinion.
As for the earning potential, I have all kinds of disagreements with that. First and foremost what is a Catholic university touting a book that says earthly possessions are meaningless doing when it goes around convincing people to go there based on how rich they'd be? "Come to Notre Dame, you'll make more money, but be careful--it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!"
Forgive me for being kinda pedantic, and I've taken the pro-Notre Dame side more times than I can count and am of course in favor of picking Notre Dame over anywhere else most of the time, but fans need to walk a fine line here. Going to an academically elite school isn't the best choice 100% of the time for that recruit.
