How was the venue configured?

.
It was directly between gates 6 (the start/finish line) and 7. Some people were upset because that area is covered in a lot of gravel and cement as opposed to some of the turns which are all grass, however everyone was standing the entire time once the opening acts got going so it didn't matter too much. The stage was elevated because the infield is flat, but it was still pretty hard for me to see anyone on the stage. The stage had 3 jumbotrons to counter this.

Stones were great, venue sucked
There wasn't a lot that IMS did right.
They need to build a permanent amphitheater and fire whoever put this together.

Worst thing was trying to leave.

my top 5 in no order.

- picking up vip tix from will call was the worst. couldn't find my name in the system, even after I logged in on my phone to their site and showed them the order. huge cluster between amex ordered tix vs ticket master ordered tix vs ims ordered tix. I ordered from IMS so you think they would have their own shit together. I finally asked them to simply look in the file under S.... what do you know,,, there I was. took over 1 hour. they tried to redirect to 2 other places.

-vip section in general. you had to walk around the entire venue to get to it. advertised as VIP,,, not even close compared to the every other venue I've been to. also said it would have private beer tents, private bathrooms, etc. beer was convenient but no bathrooms.

-bathrooms - all the way fricken in the back near the terrace. getting to, and back from them was hell. no reason at all they couldn't have BRs along both sides.

- parking and entry in general. had premier parking... took us 4 times as long as my buddies who parked outside. the people inside the track directing were clueless. Aldean last year was so much faster and better conceived. the paths for people to walk from premier parking to the entry points were also f'd up.

-acoustics - horrible compared to when I saw them last month at Bobby Dodd

whiney I know. I'm sure the people in the cheap seats would have traded places... but when you pay $$ your experience should be better. I thought the Aldean concert last year was f'd up, but this was much more of a mess. Overall, the clients loved it, and I had a great time. just so many stupid things they could have done differently.

IMS says they want to bring in concerts on a regular basis. if so, they just need to build an amphitheater. plenty of room and they can build it so they can flex the lawn seat area. the stones producers have some type of relationship with IMS, which is why IMS was the landing spot. would have been so much better at klipsch or the dome.

all that said, mick and Richard are freaks of nature. so freaking good.

I didn't get why anyone paid for the premier parking. I figured that'd be harder to get out than the free outside parking because you're funneled out. We parked for free directly across from the gate six entrance (if IMS hadn't of locked the gate to our parking place, we would've been out quickly too), partied until the lines were gone, and still sat directly in the center of the speakers in silver section so acoustics were great from where I was. :D

Bathrooms did suck. I had to piss like none other after the concert since I had been holding it during the entire Stones set, but I stuck around for most the fireworks show.

the premier parking for Aldean was much better, and is what I expected. on the way out, once they got people going, it was pretty decent. just seemed like the workers had no clue what the logistics plan was.

i looked up the setlist so i could plan my piss breaks. on the last one, i just stayed out to the side of the stage and enjoyed a few songs before fighting my way back to my group.

people trying to get closer to the stage all concert was annoying as hell. i don't know how many times i heard "i'm trying to get back to my XXX", and then they are followed by 5 people. best one was a lady on a hoverround and several friends trying to get to the stage. a guy in front of me told her point blank, "lady i got here at 2pm, waited in line, and worked for my spot, and you're was not taking it".... lol. the lady was a bxxxx so i did not feel bad for her, especially trying to bring 4 people with her....

Lucas / whatever. Even th Hoosier dome would have better back in the day

LOL...I knew what you meant. I've never seen a concert in Lucas, or the old Dome for that matter. But I have seen MANY concerts at the track...none were ever very good.
