What type of seating do most of the other hockey universities have. By that I meant what size are the areans.

Also, I went to a couple of ND hockey games when I was at ND. The turnouts usually were not that good. This makes me skeptical that Kevin White would spend any amount of money to build a better hockey facilty.

Yeah, the hockey arena situation at ND is a joke. It looks like a temporary rink thrown together in the middle of a fieldhouse, which is it pretty much is. Despite the limitations of the facilities, you have to give tons of credit to the new coaching regime for recruiting quality student-athletes. I hope some money gets earmarked to this program's facilities like it is for the team the other side of the JACC. Their games were always fun, I thought the support was solid considering the arena, and I think any Notre Dame team deserves better.

The 3 times I've seen games at the JACC, the team's been supported very well. First time was about 10 yrs ago vs Northern Michigan (loss). Place wasn't packed, but it wasn't empty either. Last year vs Bowling Green (win). Pretty close to packed. This year vs Michigan St. (win). Packed.

Most true hockey schools have 5-8 thousand capacity. teams like north dakota and denver u. have amazing facilities. the east coast powers as well.

MSU,UM have nice ones as well. (i actually skated on those sheets as a midget)

the hockey team at ND has a solid core of fans. most of which are parents of youth hockey players in the area. my pops (season ticket holder) said that they are going to redo the joyce domes, basketball first and then hockey. the ice rink will more than likely be walled off to enclose it. they are going to put permanent stands in and full facilities for dogs/sodas. it will be nice once they get to it. the team will be even better once it is finished because it will improve the condintion of the ice. now it is really mushy and slow because they can't keep the building cold enough for fast ice. i grew up playing there and was the stick boy for the irish for years. i was the slacker pushing the nets to the boards during intermission and working the penalty boxes in the late 80's.

cheers to the hockey team. i've been waiting for a season like this for a long long time! go IRISH!!!!
