I would love to be a fly on the wall this year during the Irish Spring. With as much Young Talent as we have, and have coming in, we could see a brand new look for the Irish next season.

QB?
Everyone expects Clausen to win the spot...
Sharpley-Michigan player of the year in Hs + experience running the Weis system
Jones- Quality dual threat qb with a huge upside to play early. He is probably our best over all athelete at QB and could give us a dynamic we haven't had in a long time! A pocket passer that can hurt you severely with his running.
Frazer- Have we all forgotten about Zach...he was one of the top Pocket passers in his class, big time arm... could be in the mix too!

I think this position will yield a transfer from us... too much young talent and not enough PT to go around.... lets just hope we don't lik Zach Kustock 2 happen!

RB- Where do I begin-
Dwalk is back
Aldridge will have a full healthy year under his belt in the spring-hopefully
Prince- Untapped speedster so we hear
Allen- Big time game breaking ability

WR- I am hoping DJ comes back and has a shark like breakout...he has the big play speed
Jackson- big physical type...we need
Parris- see Jackson
Grimes- Productive this year hope he progresses into more than a situational reciever
West- Got a bunch of PT this year at kick returning looked quick, we need fast

More to come.... Add on to what you think our spring might look like!

The jobs at WR are wide open. It'll be interesting to see who comes out of that group.
Right now, I don't even think you can predict what will happen with that position until after spring practice. Its wide open.

QB goes without saying that it will be interesting. I hear a lot of great things about Jones. I think it comes down to Jones or Clausen who knows. I realize that Sharpley might be the most ready to play, give the team the best chance to win on opening day but I just don't see how it makes to start him. If the goal is to be in contention for a NC in 2008 and/or 2009 than how does starting Sharpley help you get there?

Like you said BestBIrish I think that all of these positions are wide open. But I see Clausen starting the season opener. It's his job to lose.

I agree. If Clausen doesn't start can you imagine the pressure on the starter. Every mistake he makes the fans will be calling for Clausen. Whoever it is will constantly be looking over their shoulder. Much like Holiday when BQ was a freshman. I think Jimmy is best equipped to start from day one. He's had to deal with the pressure of being Jimmy Clausen for the past 3 years. At least that should help him with the pressure that comes from being QB1 at Notre Dame.

I can't wait for the spring....starting spot are wide open for almost all positions on both sides of the ball. Offensive: QB, OL, WR Defensive: DL, CB, S. I think our team will be alot faster next year. Go Irish!

Who do you think will be the starting five on the line?
My guesses would be
Tackles: Young & Turkovich
Guards: Christ Stewart, Carufel
Center Sullivan (I think I saw he is coming back) if not Wenger

actually maybe olsen as LG instead of Carufel should be a heated battle especially when you throw in the incoming class of OL's

I have no take on the QB situation...but I will say that no matter how much press you get in high school nothing can or nothing will prepare you for the pressure of being the #1 QB at Notre Dame.
