1. Was wondering what your predictions were for ND win/loss record for next year??

2. Would you be unhappy with CW coaching if ND ended with a 9-3 record or worse?

Thanks..

In a rebuilding year I would be very pleased with 9-3. I think most people would say 7 or 8 wins.

Questions for buckeye fans...

1.) Was wondering what you all think the exact time frame is for Tress coming out of the closet.

2.) Would you feel bad about your programs recent success if it were to come to light that your coaches, boosters and or alums paid the star players on the your football and basketb-

Wait, disregard number 2...

LOL sorry bucklife, couldn't help the jabbing... anyway serious now..

1.) 3-4 loses would be expected/ 1-2 loses would be a great year/ 5+ would be a disaster that I am not personally worried about...

2.) Ah.... you kidding right? Anyone who follows recruiting knows what to expect out of Notre Dame (Irish fan or Irish hater), next year and more importantly in the near future there after... 07 would not be an example world beating, but by 08 and beyond... watch out...

What do you think Buckslife? I like to hear an opinion from outside the ND fanbase.
And Maison if your out there, I'd like to hear what you think too.

Since you asked my feeling is thats it is going to be a tough year for you. . Thinking maybe 8-4 record. Tough games will be UM,USC,UCLA,PSU and GT. It will be a rebuilding year for sure... New QB, defense, and OL. Think this year will be true test for CW and the coaching staff too.

8-4 would be a nice year and is probably about right. What a lot of outsiders don't realize is just how many sophomores will be relied on next year, and a few more freshmen than team would like.

Even if all of the potential 5th years come back next year this will be an extremely young, inexperienced, and talented team. 4 losses or less and fighting to get into a new year's day bowl, not necissarily a BCS bowl, is what I'm thinking at this point. 08 NC

1. 8-4, with 9-3 a possibility if somethings go our way.

2. No, you have to be realistic with how many underclassman who will have to step in w/o any experience. Thanks again TW.

I expect 8-4. I will be extremely happy if we go 9-3.

P.S. Cotton Bowl + Jimmy Clausen + Chicken Soup = Second Straight Bowl Win

1) 7-5
2) I expect it. There are simply too many new kids playing next year.

Buckslife, you must understand that we have ~23 kids in the Junior and Sophmore class COMBINED!!! They will be the Junior/Senior class next year.

Out of those guys less than 1/3 are starters. Those were Ty's two brutally bad recruiting years.

My prediction would be 8 wins, so I would not only be happy w/ 9, I'd sign for a 9-3 season right now.

I would be happy with 8-4. Anything less and I'll be disappointed. Anymore and I'll be happily surpirised. But the following year, watch out b/c HERE COME THE IRISH!

i'd say anything less than 9-3 would be disappointing, and I base this solely on our schedule. the tough games are going to be GT, PSU, USC, UM, and UCLA. Out of GT, PSU, and UCLA, i think it's fair to expect 2 wins and one loss. i expect PSU to always be a bit offensively challenged, and CW hasn't had much trouble with their D just yet. UCLA might be better next year than this year, but i still think we'll be a better overall team. GT? I think this is our loss. they have other weapons at WR besides Johnson, and my guess is that their backup QB is better than Ball, he was just starting because of leadership. and that defense is always good.

i think you see the character of ND change drastically next year. i say we'll run the ball a whole lot more (2/3 of the time), with walker and aldridge splitting most of the time. it's a whole lot easier to break in a new o-line running the ball. maybe that will create more ball control, keep our defense off the field a bit more.

maybe i'm too optimistic, but i do know that CW is a pretty good coach, and despite how young his team will be next year, you'd think that he will maximize their potency by utilizing strengths.

i agree with brecht's 2nd paragraph, but 9-3 is prob. a bit unrealistic seeing that 75% of the starters will be first time college starters.

I'm looking at 7-5 with an 80% certainty factor that it will be this or higher

1) 7-5
2) God no, I'd be downright giddy if we did better than 7-5.

I don't necessarily agree that UCLA and GTech will be hard. UCLA will improve, but who knows which team is going to show up. BC will be a hard game, notwithstanding O'Brien's departure to NC State.

I have a feeling PSU's offense will be much better next year. They're really close. If Morelli hits those excellent recievers in stride, PSU can be explosive. They will continue to have a good running game. Their problem is that they lose a lot of guys on defense. However, I think it's really tough playing in Beaver stadium (no one every blows them out there), and even if their offense sputters, Nd will have a hard time pulling off a win there with inexperienced players.

A lot will also depend on improvment. If you're breaking in a bunch of new guys, you can't really expect them to get it right away. But you do expect them to improve. Unfortuantely, Nd's schedule is front loaded (all the good teams are at the beginning of the season). UM will be on a championship run next year, and I don't expect a loss to Nd at home. PSU is probably a loss. BC and UCLA can go either way. I'll split that. USC continues to have better athletes, so that's probably a loss. So 9-3 would actually be pretty good. 8-4 is a little more realistic. But as much as any of you don't want to hear this, I also think it's possible Weis can get frustrated with the hothead Clausen, or Clausen can get impatient. If that happens, with the frontloaded schedule, the team can implode early on and lose a lot of games, like Alabama this year.

Yes, I don't make excuses for poor performance.

Michigan had a terrible 2005 campaign. And we never forget those failures. Don't worry, the core group who experienced that season will never allow it to happen again.
