Where are my fellow night owls/third shifters?

I'm joining the shift of the living dead starting Monday night. Who else here keeps those hours? I'm going to need SOMEONE to talk to, ya'll! But hey, an extra $1.30/hr (not to mention an additional $1/hr on top of THAT if it's also a weekend) makes it pretty much worth it.

I worked nights for the last two years, and just recently moved to days. There are a few that are involved through the night, but not that many past 2 or 3 in the morning if I remember correctly. I hope you like nights better than I did. My body just wasn't made for it.

I have done night shift before. It's not super easy, but I find that sleeping during the day is not that difficult. And thankfully, I have lots of friends who like going out and doing shit so on nights I don't work (I will work four 10 hour days per week) I will still have stuff to do. AND PLUS I have my Planet Fitness membership which is open 24/7 :) I'm gonna get TONED. UP.

I worked night shift a few years ago, did it for...3 years I think? I really enjoyed it while I did it, but as the kids came along I decided it would be better to find a different job that's 8-5 so I could see them more. To be honest though, if you think about it like you're switching your sleep and work schedules, you probably see the kids just as much in that case.

I still find myself slipping into a 3rd shift kind of lifestyle on weekends from time to time. I'll end up staying up super late till the sun comes up, but it's mostly by choice. The nice thing about working 3rd shift is there's no problems setting up appointments during the day, and doing things like grocery shopping is a breeze as the stores are mostly empty. Overall I just enjoyed working night shift because you don't have a bunch of big wigs standing over you throughout the day, it's more relaxed so you can do things you probably couldn't do during the day like listen to music or whatever. I just found I got a lot more done without the normal interruptions you get with the 8-5 crowd, and I actually had more down time to surf the web/goof off.

This is probably what I'm most excited about. There are three of us working night shift in my lab on any given night, six of us in total. And I am the only girl. And there is one guy in particular who is, let's just face it, incredibly attractive. THE ODDS ARE IN MY FAVOR, YOU GUYS.

Not working for extra, but I'm on mid-shifts from 11-7am UFI. Of course, once our manning dips, it'll go to 7-7.

I would agree on the big wig issue, and being able to kind of beat to your own drum as long as you get the work done. That was definitely a plus, and the money was better because of shift differential. There was pros and cons I guess. No one in my family works nights though, so I had to flip my schedule a bit on my days off which was taxing. I worked 12 hour shifts though.

Just be sure to find a secluded spot with a locked door, and test the room to see how well it dampens sound...speaking from past experience

To be honest, I got away with a lot of stuff at my old job while I worked nights. I'd eat my lunch hour at my desk, but I'd occasionally slip out and take my hour lunch too so I could do some grocery shopping or Christmas shopping. Also...I may have accidentally found an unsecured WiFi located in the business right next to ours. I'd bring my laptop in late at night and play MMOs half the night  I got pretty good at my job, to the point where I was writing .bat files and programs to automate a lot of work that I was doing like upgrading customers. Anything that allowed me more time to goof off basically. It became a challenge to see how much work I could automate to give myself more free time.

Well, I did start it six years ago. I wouldn't necessarily expect you to remember every thread from six years ago, haha.

Ahh, my "insecure-because-I-was-fat" days...I don't miss them.

She doesn't know Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles though or Pee-Wee, and she doesn't play video games. Plus she's only an Irish fan by marriage.
It seems creepy reading some of your replies with that picture of Lou in the corner. LMAO

Tonight is my first night attempting to stay up all night.

So far I have fallen asleep from 9:30pm-11pm and I have been barely able to stay awake since.

This is going to be a touch harder than I thought...

What's up? Chronic insomniac here. I stayed up to 6:30am last night just because. Wanna trade?
