Anyone see this? (The commentary is Pat Forde.)

Coach Bobby Petrino came close to coughing up his true feelings about Louisville's predicament, when asked how he'd feel about having his team accomplish everything it has this season and still be left outside the glamour bowls.

"Unfortunately it's not just the best team," Petrino said. "There's tradition that plays into it. And one team gets a little favoritism, I guess."

One hundred guesses and an autographed DVD of "Rudy" if you can name which team Petrino might have been referring to.

Uhh ... Bobby ... let's try playing a DI schedule before you start whining.

Louisville backed into the Big East title last night after West Virginia beat Rutgers. That means Louisville is guaranteed a BCS spot. What the hell is he still whining for?

This was from after the L-ville game, and before WVU had won.

Both of them won their conferences.

Conference, schmonference.

Wake Forest won their conference. Michigan didn't. Does that make Wake Forest better than Michigan?

Bobby Petrino was trying to make the point that Louisville is better than Notre Dame but that Notre Dame could "steal" Louisville's bowl slot. Yet Wake Forest is ranked lower than Notre Dame, and he's not whining about them.

Dude needs to get over it. Next time, Bobby, try beating Rutgers, and then you won't have anything to worry about.

Then he's upset that he did stick it up his ass and he didn't get the job.

Wasn't he one of the coaches who said he was not interested in the job? Petrino would have had a legitimate gripe about ND being chosen over Louisville. ND would have had an argument as well. Seriously though, we better have a good showing against LSU, then all this talk doesn't matter. If not, well then...

Yes he did take his name out of consideration. Only two jobs come to mind where he almost left UL, the Raiders job last year, and the Auburn job a couple of years ago when they were having double secret meetings on an airplane somewhere.

This is the same Louisville that lost to Rutgers right?

So WHAT????

Notre Dame should not have to apologize for their BCS deal, anymore than do the other conferences (BCS and Non-BCS). There was the possibility that 3 conference champions were going to be ranked lower than ND (Wake will be, Oklahoma likely as well, and Rutgers would have been). Notre Dame may still be in the top 10 in the BCS - why the beef with Notre Dame's deal? And don't use the conference argument: Louisville/WVU/Rutgers basically only played each other and lost to each other - so you don't have a basis of comparison. Who did Boise St beat, yet they get a conference bid?

Winning a conference is such an overrated accomplishment. When Pitt of two years ago & FSU last year get in b/c they "won their conference," I don't wanna hear anything about how Notre Dame doesn't deserve a bid when they go 10-2 against the 19th rated schedule (Sagarin) in the country.

To be honest, I see Petrino's beef. I don't agree with it, but I see it. Notre Dame will always go to a bowl over a similarly talented team. It irks teams that get shut out (Oregon last year, would have been Louisville this year), but that's how bowls work.

With regards to Louisville's situation, i agree with everyone here. I didn't really understand why people were regarding Louisville and West Virginia as legitimate teams to begin with, but what do i know. So they won the Big East. Big whup. Aside from any bowl considerations, ND is a better team than Louisville. Not that ND is amazing, but Louisville isn't that good.

So why isolate Notre Dame??? If BCS selection committees have the AT LARGE choice between the following (hypothetically) similarly talented teams, who do you think they chose in each case?

Michigan or Purdue?
LSU or Vanderbilt?
Nebraska or Missouri?
USC or Louisville?

I can add to the list, but the bowl committees will ALWAYS pick the teams that have the biggest fan bases, whose fans travel well, who will get better TV exposure, etc. And it is not just Notre Dame; there are probably 15-20 schools out there that if 'similarly talented' in comparison to Louisville, would get a bid ahead of Petrino.

Note to Petrino: Get your head out of your ass, and let the Big East show that they can compete with other conferences (WVU helped last year in the Sugar); don't look for instant respect. You deserve only a little bit more respect right now than Boise St.

He's doing what any coach would do. They want the best for their team not want we want. He dislikes Notre Dame's situation with the BCS because it directly affects him. If he isn't in this postion we don't hear a fricken peep from him.

I remember the night after Louisville beat WVU and "made the national title game" (hahahaahaha!), Petrino got full of himself and pulled the schollie of this year's first L-ville verbal. Because, ya know, Louisville was too big now, too good. They were going to the natonal title game. They didn't need kids like that anymore.

Then what happened?

Similar whine that Rodriquez had when ND went to the Gator and Rich went to the Tire Bowl. Big East coaches play pansy schedules and whine about "tradition".

Sorry, that's just nonsense.

Speaking of their schedule, they destroyed Oregon State. Oregon State beat SC. And I need not remind you what SC did to us.

You can say whatever you want about. Yes, their schedule is lousy. I think they're a damn good football team, and would beat us about half the time, if not more. But then I don't have this weird bias against small schools.

I also like how you act like ND has some home field advantage. We don't. We lose more at home than on the road under Weis. We got killed at home by Michigan. Our fans sit on their hands, and our players don't focus any better at home.

WTF is that statement based on? Their schedule?

Boise St are so hard to judge because of who they play....their big win was against Oregon St (but Oregon ST have been kind of Jekyll and Hyde this year). Other than OrSU, they didn't really play anyone noteworthy (blew some teams out, and struggled with Hawaii and San Jose St). But, until they have some big wins I can't see how Clotho says they would beat ND....just his opinion

Sidenote on BSU: their ESPN schedule shows them playing Oklahoma on January 7th....but I haven't seen anything on any other BCS teams. Has there been an official release?

hmm cant really use that analogy clotho.

ND beat UCLA, USC beat ND, UCLA beat USC.

ND would rock the shit outta boise. i would love to see that matchup.

Uhhhhhhhhhh what big wins does ND have?

I hate to break it to you guys, but here's what the latest polls say:

ND has played #3 and #7/8. ND got destroyed by both of those teams. ND has no wins against ranked teams.

Boise State has played #24/25, and destroyed them.

The real question isn't what makes me think Boise State could hang with ND, but rather, what makes ND fans think we can hang with Boise State? We have no resume. None. We're 0-2 against the top 25, with two blowout losses. They're 1-0 against the top 25, with a blowout win.

They're ahead of us in both polls. On what are we basing the assumption that we'd beat them? Our recruiting rankings?

i guess if ND had 5 turnovers against boise, yeah they would lose but other than that senario. ND would crush them.

maybe you should stop pulling for ND and hope on the blue turf wagon.
