If our two biggest rivals, Michigan and USC, were to ever play each other, who would you want to win? In my own humble opinion, I would pick the University of Southern California. I could tolerate them just because we have some certain characteristics that we share with them. You know, the whole Catholic thing. (Although USC has drifted from that.) I absolutely, with all of my heart, despise and hate Michigan. I just can't stand the program and the university - period. What about you guys?

I would have to go with Michigan on this one. I cant stand USC and that dick of a coach, if this wasn't USC week maybe I would feel different.

What Catholic thing? I'm pretty sure USC was never a Catholic school..in fact, if I'm not mistaken, it once had a methodist affiliation.

Honestly, I'd probably prefer Michigan win, particularly if it had national title implications; you see, I have a cold war mentality, and so I view USC as the bigger threat to our long-term football supremacy.

USC, it would bring ND closer to the winning % while keeping them from adding another W to the all time victory column.

I do know that Notre Dame has a respectful rivalry with both schools so I go down to the fanbases and schools themselves...

Every time they have played (in the Rose Bowl etc).... I have been a Michigan fan... I don't like a few things the University of Michigan does with admissions and such... but the team and fan base seem pretty respectful for the most part... this could be simply the fact I am a lifelong Irish fan living in So Cal... but the Trojan fanbase is nothing but Radier fans in Red (nuff said) and the actual School and the current AD REALLY sit wrong with me... complete lack of respect for other programs, and cfb history at times and there is no excuse for that... soooooo...

Go Blue!!

I rather eat the corn out of paulie shore's shit than root for either of those teams. Would have to be something else on the oxygen channel that night or maybe a repeat of Little Women on some channel than watch either of those teams play for it all.

On the one hand, if Michigan loses, it can get us closer to the all time winning percentage, which should be ours in the first place. But, living in CA, I can't stand USC. Taking into account the fanbases, I would have to say that at least Michigan fans support their team win or lose, USC fans on the other hand...only seat 30,000 in the Coliseum when USC is not winning a NC (or imaginery NC). Also, the USC program is dirtier than Michigan.

So I guess I would have to say Michigan. :violent:

agreed kind sir, agreed... Case in point...

USC fans at work were talking TONS of shit at UCLA the monday after the Rose Bowl was half full for the Rice game earlier this year... I mentioned if they remembered how empty the Col. EVERY sat. night before P.C. took over?? They responded EXACTLY like I thought they would.... "USC's home is NEVER empty!!! I can't EVER remember our house being half full... EVER!!!" I just turned to walk away and stated as a left... "Yes, in the three years you have been 'die hards'... 'your' house has never been half full..."

You guys will have to accept my apology. For the longest time I had thought that USC was somehow Catholic-affiliated. I guess I was wrong. Sorry.

No. Actually, USC was originally known as the Southern California Methodists. Kind of like ND was originally the Notre Dame Catholics. It became Trojans by the turn of the century though.

Trojan fans would not know this history. If you mention to an SC fan that SC football has been around for a long time "since the turn of the century," they think that you are talking about the year 2000, rather than 1900. Although, for most SC fans, SC football really has only existed since this recent turn of the century.

EDIT: I should have put a link in originally to back up this claim. So here it is.

Believe me, I get tired of this BS also. Unfortunately, a lot of my friends went to USC for grad school. I would say at least 15-20. But, I was watching the USC-Cal game this past weekend with a bunch of them. With 10:00 minutes to go in the 4th quarter, the commentators were talking about how Carroll turned around the team around. And they said that Carroll had stated that prior to him arriving, the Coliseum was lucky to have more than 40,000 people in attendance. And, that a game agains UCLA in 2003 was the first sellout for the Trojans since the 1930s. My USC friends heard this, and they still did not believe it. I have also been telling them for years that prior to Carroll, they could never fill more than half the stadium. However, the still declare to have been lifelong fans. Yet they can't even name who USC's coach was before Carroll. They all say "that guy from the Rams." WTF! If they are lifelong fans, then I have to say that they look very old for a 5 year old.

Yes its true, I can't hide it any longer, I despise USC with every bone in my body. I never did prior to the wagon, but now I do.

I would prefer an A Bomb drop on the field. I really couldn't choose. I guess I'd go with UM just b/c I couldn't stand to see Pete Carroll with his smirk as he got a trophy.

Michigan to win.

I don't like USC because of the arrogant smugness of Pete Carroll and his team, as well as that of their fan base.

I don't like Michigan, Steve Superior, or any SEC teams, but at least Michigan is a midwestern team like ND. They have many midwestern players, so they get the benefit of my doubt.
