USC coach Carroll wants to prove that he can succeed at football's highest level. He's a West Coast guy who never really fit in with the New England Patriots and New York Jets. Coaching the Arizona Cardinals? I'm told Carroll would consider that. Sources tell me that Arizona will fire Dennis Green, so it looks as if the job certainly will be open. Carroll would listen to the Cardinals if the money is right ($4-5 million a year). And Carroll would want control of the works. Arizona would need to consider Carroll, given his relationship with the franchise's face for the future: Matt Leinart.

I don't think it will happen. I just can't see Snoop and Lindsay Lohan hanging out in Phoenix.

He would fail miserably. He's not NFL material, as he's proven.

Remember, Pete- in the NFL everyone pays their players. You lose your advantage.

I don't see it either. But the ASU coeds might be a nice draw. Of course, in the desert, he couldn't wear this leather jacket with his sneakers.

On the bright side, the dry heat makes for great hair days for the poodle.

I just want CW and Co. to beat him one time before he leaves (if he does).

Yeah I could care less, I'll dispise the next guy, and the next, I don't care if it is Lassie or the Pope or Britney spears yaw'll, if he's patrolling the Coliseum sidelines opposite to CW. Although there might be some initial recruiting opportunity.

I think this makes perfect sense. With all of the heat and low humidity in Arizona, the grass height is kept very low. You know how big a deal this is for Pete 'Clairol'

You can say that again.

I am always on the same wavelength with scoop. You beat me to it. Sneakers and leather jacket. Classic.

Let him stick around.

Notre Dame and UCLA are just now starting to win their share of recruiting battles. I want to see what happens when everyone starts catching up.

Then again, the Cardinals are already a Mickey Mouse organization.

That may be why he's not wanting to stick around. Suddenly he isn't the hot college coaching prospect when he's losing 2-3 games a season.

Ego will drive this more than anything else.

He thinks he has something to prove in the NFL.

I dont know, I think it all depends on how much the Cards are willing to put on the table for him, and how much SC is willing to spend to keep him. Bottom line is this, Arizona is like Oakland in football, it's where football players and coaches go to die and fall of the planet. I personally hope he stays put at SC so that we can demolish his teams year in and year out, i like the idea of the 10 year torment he will endure havig to play us opposed to him running away, that douchebag!

I think he hears CW's footsteps and knows his reign as College footballs best coach and top recruiter is creeping to an end. Wants to jump ship while he is still "Hot".

I feel bad for football fans in Arizona. They jumped to soon and took a transfer team and got the Bidwells instead of waiting and getting an expansion team. Now they could get Poodle as their coach. As long as the Bidwells own the team .500 will be a good year!

Weis, Meyer, Schiano, Butch Davis, Dorrell, Tedford, Tressel = Carroll to the NFL

He, Kirk Ferentz and Mark Richt are going to all want to get into the NFL ASAP, before the bloom is altogether off the rose.

Sorry to not sound as optimistic as others, but with Carroll at USC, I don't see anybody running over them for many years to come. I actually would like it for him to leave, for that means ND won't have to play his teams, and will win more recruits. Give him his due, he knows how to recruit and coach at the college level.

It would take a tremendous amout of greenbacks for Carroll to even think about leaving the Rubbers....errrr...I mean the Trojans. He has already failed at the NFL level. He can really write his own ticket at USC...thats what happens when you win a NC.(yeah...just ONE...not 3 like Tommy Trojan thinks).
I don't see him going anywhere

As much as I think the guy is a huge phony, and an asshole, he does get his recruits; I don't think he and SC are too concerned about any other schools right now.

Besides, there is probably a bigger budget at SC for 'comping' players than there is in 'Zona.

I don't think this is that far fetched, as mentioned above if the Cards offer the right amount of $$$ and with Leinart there and other Key offensive pieces (Fitz, Boldin and Edge) it may just entice him enough.

He might be enticed to go to the Cardinals. But I don't know if he will be able to handle working with a smaller budget than he has been used to at USC.

I wonder if Carroll is noticing the decline in offensive production as the result of the loss of Offensive Coordinator/Guru Norm Chow?

USC is barely in the top 25 in offense. Last year they had the #1 offense in Norm Chow's first year removed. With the key players gone that were the last under Norm Chow's tutelage, he may be feeling the effects and wanting to jump ship.

This is not the first time we have heard Carroll to the Cardinals. After a while there is usually some truth. I wouldn't shed any tears if he left to go to football purgatory.

At this point, Carroll is only putting "feelers" out for the soon to be open Card's job.

The newest report is Green will indeed be out, but the Cards have their sights set on Marriucci.
