OSu Lineman talks smack about ND and CW!!!

Wow... could you imagine CW letting his palyers give comments like this after a game, especially a potential future opponent.

Quote:

'So who else could play the underdog role in Glendale?
"The game I'm looking at is probably Notre Dame-USC," Barton said. "I'm thinking the winner of that is going to be our opponent."
Barton said this before Cal-USC kicked off. But given the Trojans' run the past few years, there are a few Buckeyes who would like a shot a them.
"I always wanted to play them," Richardson said. "I've heard too much about them."
Barton said he'd prefer USC over the Fighting Irish.
"I'll be rooting against Notre Dame," Barton said. "I'm not a big fan of their coach and the program."
This might have been the Champagne talking. Or not. The guy is 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, so I'd imagine it would take more than a glass or two to make Barton silly.
But pressed for details on why he doesn't like the Fighting Irish -- whom the Buckeyes whipped 36-20 last year in the Fiesta Bowl -- Barton didn't back off very far.
"I don't know," he said, before going sarcastically diplomatic. "They're a great program, they're Notre Dame -- whoo."
Pause.
"They couldn't handle us." '

As if I wanted to play OSU in the national title game anymore...

It was on ESPN this morning, I read that too, got me a little fired up. I tell you what, if Zibby's fumble recovery in that game isn't called back, we're right back in that game. Last time I checked it wasn't too bad of a spanking either, they scored their last touchdown in garbage time if I remember correctly.

Now that is a particularly interesting quote.

tOSU is a better team than ND, there is no question about it.

But, if any team plays them in the National Championship, the term "They couldn't handle us" should never be used by tOSU. For the most part, National Championship games are always competitive. And if I remember correctly, tOSU was a pretty sizeable underdog to Miami in 2002, yet somehow they pulled it out.

This might have been the Champagne talking.

Champagne?

Uh uh. Not even at OSU. That was an NCAA locker room not the NFL or MLB.

I know we can score on tOSU's defense, but seriously, our defense would get completely torched.

Couldn't stop their O last year and it's better this year. Any realistic ND fan knows this and if you dont, you are crazy.

Do you think it would negatively impact our recruiting if we have a coach that got us in the NC in his second year? Emmm.....Im going to have go with a big fat 'NO'.

We cant win the NC if were not in the NC game. Im still not detering from my "win out, first" mentality. I still think we have to deal with a lot Saturday.

BUT, once again, I refuse to fear any team in College Football. You dont get respect by not showing up.

And our offense is not as good as last year.

I don't want a piece of them...that game last year was not really close. They hung record yardage on us and pretty much controlled the game.

They are better in most aspects this year...it would not be pretty.

It's not fear...it's logic. UM destroyed us. OSU played a little better than them. What lost us that game has not been changed or fixed. Playing OSU again this year would just be another loss. Going to the NC would be viewed as ND favoritism (if if we earn it)...and then we lose to the Buckeyes in the NC game...ugh

Let's go to a BCS game that we can win. Get the Bowl monkey off our back.

It's fear. How could anybody read that quote and not want a shot at that team?

Fear

Fear

Fear

This is Notre Dame. The goal is championships. You can't win them if you don't play for them.

ah 21 pts off of turnovers??? I think that would not happen again. I would absolutely love a chance to play the 85 bears if it meant I had a chance to be a champion. You don't play any sport to be 2nd. That is just rediculous. Anything can happen. Sure we are little undermaned vs. OSU but they don't decide wins and losses by depth charts.

Gentlemen, gentlem, gentlemen.....FOCUS!

So some overweight buffoon from a second rate school took a jab at us. Big deal. This is USC week! Nothing should be able to divert attention away from our most hated rival. Let anyone talk that will this week and just store the clippings away for another day. This is USC week! We should be so myopic about the school from California that we are frothing at the mouth come Saturday night.

Go Irish! Kill the Condoms!

I agree that anything can happen...and of course you only want to play for championships...

However, I am trying to be forward looking here. If this team wants to get the best recruits possible it needs a significant bowl win. Given our struggles with lesser teams, I would rather play in a BCS game with a slightly higher probabiliy of winning.

The Buckeyes are at the top of their game and filled with talent that we are just recruiting now...the probability of us winning a rematch with them is REALLY low.

But let's not look ahead too far...we still need to get past USC before ANY of this matters.

Heh, its fear alright. ND had 5 turnovers vs. scUM. I dont think it would happen again. It was the ugliest game ive ever seen, and been too.

You play every game thinking you can win. If you didnt why suit up? If its not for the title its second rate game.

Based off of your knowledge the Pittsburgh Steelers didnt deserve the Superbowl.

Folks, saturday just became a playoff game. We have a shot.

No...I am not talking deserve. Deserve's got nothing to do with it...

This program will be best served by a NC WIN or a BCS bowl WIN. A loss in ANY bowl will HURT this program.

I want to make sure that this team wins it's bowl this year. It's more crucial than ever.

Why? Because some schmuck OSU fan on an ESPN board said so? ND lost a bowl last year and was a preseason top 5 team. If this team wins next week and loses a national championship game, it won't hurt the future of the program.

Anyone that thinks winning some other bowl game instead of PLAYING IN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and losing is flat out wrong. Any kid that would rather play for the winner of the Sugar Bowl instead of playing for a chance at a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP is no kid I'd want playing for Notre Dame. I can't imagine anyone who was ever a competitive athlete having this mentality. That is a loser's mentality. CW will get this program back to where it needs to be because he plays for 1st, not friggin 3rd. He goes for it on 4th and 1 because that's what winners do. Punting is for those who are happy with 3rd place and 9-3.
Realistic? Objective? Loser terms. Realistically, ND had no shot of a comeback vs MSU. Objectively speaking, ND had no chance of a last minute 80 td drive against UCLA.

Playing for the NC and losing would in NO WAY hurt this program. If anything, it solidifies what CW has been telling these recruits. AT ND we play for championships. You want 3rd place, go cheer for WVU.
