As much as Bo hates ND, you hate to see this happen to a revered coach on the eve of a rivalry game:
Bo Gets Rushed to the Hospital

He had one of the funnier quotes of the past couple weeks, when commenting on the OSU band "The Dead Schembechlers":
[Schembechler] reminisced about Woody Hayes, talked a little about the showdown Nov. 18 between the No. 1-ranked Buckeyes and No. 2-ranked Wolverines, and had a question, too. "Hey, have you ever heard of the 'Dead Schembechlers'?" he asked. "What the hell is that? "

Schembechler first learned about that so-named Columbus punk band the previous day when shown their Web site, featuring such songs as "Bomb Ann Arbor Now" and "We Don't Give A Damn For The Whole State of Michigan." "Holy smokes, I couldn't believe it," a smiling Schembechler said. "They're all dressed like Woody. I think it's crazy."

Schembechler collapses in studio, sent to hospital
Associated Press

DETROIT -- Former Michigan football coach Bo Schembechler collapsed Friday during the taping of a television show and was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

The 77-year-old coaching great became ill at WXYZ-TV in Southfield the day before the Ohio State-Michigan showdown, the station said. Schembechler also was hospitalized Oct. 20 after falling ill at the same studio.

Messages were left with the university, Schembechler's office and at Providence Hospital, where WXYZ said Schembechler was taken.

Schembechler met with the media this week to discuss Saturday's game between the No. 2 Wolverines and No. 1 Ohio State. He discussed the device that was implanted to regulate his heartbeat after he was hospitalized last month. He said the device covered about half his chest, and doctors still were adjusting it.

Schembechler said he did not plan to attend the game in Columbus, Ohio, and he doesn't go to road games anymore.

Schembechler had a heart attack on the eve of his first Rose Bowl in 1970 and another one in 1987. He has had two quadruple heart bypass operations.

The seven-time Big Ten coach of the year had a 194-48-5 record at Michigan from 1969-89. His record in 26 years of coaching was 234-64-8.

According to some posts on the Michigan boards on Rivals, he passed away.

That's a shame. RIP Bo. He was a villian in ND lore, but always a worthy adversary. And his teams played their asses off.

Well this game just got a little bit bigger. To take nothing away from this great coaches life, they now have a little more reason to kicks tOSU's ass.

man... Michigan had better beat the Bucks this weekend.
RIP Bo.

(and I just realized that this is going on at an ND board. I guess this says something about us?)

The day before this game just makes it very strange.

Maybe the coverage of this game will be a bit less obnoxious now.

Just like before the 1970 Rose Bowl, which I'm pretty sure was Bo's first. Michigan lost to Jim Plunkett and Stanford....

I think it shows how deeply passionate he was about the game. RIP.

I'm sitting in the hotel waiting to go to the airport, listening to ESPN. Bill Curry, who I think is one the most knowledgeable and well-spoken announcers on ESPN, is trembling over his words in talking about Bo. RIP.

Say what you want about Woody and Bo, but those guys made sure their players graduated.

Honestly, the timing of this is absolutely aweing. My heart goes out to Bo and his family for sure. But what an incredible turn of events, considering the circumstances.

Heard about this on the Rome show. It's a shame he passed away the day before this game.

Kind of weird how it did happen the day before the game.....

Regardless Bo is/was a legend in college football whether you like it or not. He made sure that his players graduated and that he did things the right way. He wasn't always the best guy, in terms of likeability but no one can deny that he was something special.

To quote him "He isn't in a class by himself but it doesn't take long to call the roll"

RIP Bo

Inspiration could help the Skunkbears. That and seeing an tOSU fan with some sort of inappropriate sign might help them get (even more) motivated.

Granted I hate everything Michigan. But, you always hate to loose a legend of the game. He might have coached for one of our rivals but he was a quality coach and brought a lot too the game.

R.I.P. Bo

I wonder if the "Dead Schembechlers" will change their names now. I hope they do.

RIP Bo

I'd just like to let it be noted that Schembechler is the reason why most of us hate Michigan so much.
