Time for Rueland to step up....

He was the best tight end in the nation last year and I can see that Charlie has been putting him in little by little. He is the deap threat type tight end to take Carlson's place. We will definetly need him against SC so they will get hurt if they decide to double team Shark or Rhema. I am from Aliso VIejo a city 5 min away from Mission Viejo and saw this kid play numerous times and he is as good as advertised. Great hands and great speed for a tight end, he just needs to work on his blocking. He definetly has the talent, hopefully Charlie will play him a lot against Army and get his confidence going into the big game in the Colisium. This will sure test the inexperience of the freshman especially now because it could have National Title implications. Yeah we got Freeman but he is more of a blocker.

I say that you have to stick with Freeman in this situation, he has been in the program for more time and I believe he is a better all around tight end than Reuland. Although, I would like to see the frosh get some playing time in a meaningful game.

Hmm, I always thought Freeman was more of a blocking TE, but I could be completely making that up also. I think if he was a "Pass-Catching" TE he would be used more often for that purpose, but usually when he gets into games, he blocks.

I agree that it puts a lot of pressure on the kid but if he gets a lot of minutes against Army, it should ease his tension a little. I'm not saying Charlie should start him or anything but he should definetly utilize 2 tight end sets which I think will be effective against the Trojans. Have Freeman block and Rueland do a post. Make the D think about the middle of the field cuz that whats gonna be open cuz SC will definetly send linebackers all day long.

That's what people said...but let's face it, Carlson has turned into one helluva pass catcher.

After watching our films from all season, if Pete doesnt bring blitzes on every play I'd be shocked.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here...our defense, yes the DEFENSE, will win the game for us against USC. I feel fairly confident in my position on this limb because nobody else seems to have any faith in our defense, so i'm likely to be the only one there.

I'm pretty sure if we beat SC, like every other win for the past two years, the coach and the quarterback will win the game. Every big game people say the water boy, or the backup holder, will win the game. No, if it's won, the star players will win it. Like every week.

As for Freeman being the pass-catching tight end, it doesn't mean he's "the" pass catching tight end- it means all he can do is catch passes. It'll be interesting to see how Weis plays this against Army, in what's essentially a scrimmage.

I disagree with a reuland taking over starting duties over freeman who has been a good tight end for us the past few years and once started over fasano. I know reuland is very highly touted and he wil have to pick up minutes obviously. I just dont see him starting against USC.
