So, Bobby Petrino is one of the hotter coaches in college football, and his name has gotten thrown around for a lot of the open coaching jobs. he's been dubbed a mastermind for the past couple of years.

Louisville amassed 279 yards and made four trips into the red zone in the first half alone. The Cardinals scored only a touchdown and three Art Carmody field goals. Late in the half, trailing 14-13, Louisville ran five times inside the West Virginia 4 and didn't get into the end zone. On fourth-and-goal from the 1, Petrino swallowed hard and sent in the field goal team again.

"I didn't like doing that," Petrino said. But he had nothing else to do.

"We used every single play we had in our goal-line offense and didn't get it in. I really wanted to go for it. We should have been able to score earlier. Any time you got Art Carmody, you've got to get points on the board."

For anybody watching the game, this means every single play in their goal-line offense was a run up the middle. compare this to, say, the 4th and 1 ND had with shark's fake field goal. it really just goes to show how innovative weis is as a play caller.

I don't know too much about technicalities of different schemes, but watching most teams compared to ND, they don't seem to be quite as complex as Weis's schemes and playcalling. IMO, I can't think of one that can outcoach Weis. Its going to be rediculous what happens when we actually have a whole team of 4 and 5 star recruits.

I was very underwhelmed by both teams. They had lousy defenses and the offenses were horrible in many places...like UL's many many attempts to get in the end zone from within the 5 yard line.

I think a lot of people were underwhelmed and I was with Louisville on this one all the way. Too much WVU money was flying around. Holtz picked them in the pregame and for all the right reasons.

Louisville can score on anyone and I think this program is really moving up. But if they play tOSU or scUM they'd probably lose. They'd most likely lose. All things equal on a neutral field, tOSU and scUM beat them.

As for Weis, what I've seen a lot this year vs. ND is a lot of Cover 2 and Cover 3 vs. the offense. Samardzija is getting double teamed and the deep threat is being taken away. What has happened is that Carlson, Grimes and Walker have gotten more receiving opportunities. Quinn has done a good job of taking what the defense is giving him.

Stovall's deep presence is missed this year, but they've adjusted well. And this was what Weis called the best week of practice since he's been here, so they could hit their stride these next four games and look really good heading into a bowl.

That was a horribly played game on defense. The way they marched up and down the field was laughable. I'll take The Mad Scientist over anyone coaching in the game.

One post game reporter noted, "One team can't cover receivers and the other makes nothing but arm tackles."

Louisville tackled so poorly Slaton might have run for 300 yards last night if he had held on to the football.
