snipped this out of an article posted earlier...

*********************
Navy senior linebacker Tyler Tidwell, who was part of the 2003 team that lost in South Bend, 27-24, on a last-second field goal, said he wishes for two things - for the Mids to end their losing streak Saturday, and for the series to continue forever.

'As the series has gotten so lopsided, you hear people saying [it should end], but the people usually saying it are sportswriters,' Tidwell said. 'I get tons of e-mails from alumni, and not one of them has ever said we should stop playing Notre Dame.

'Whatever Navy team ends up [beating the Irish], whether it's this year or 10 years down the road, is going to be a historic team. And one of these days, when I'm 80 years old, coming to the games and riding my wheelchair around Navy-Marine Corps [Memorial Stadium], I'll still be saying we should play Notre Dame every year.'
**********************

You just gotta love the Middies. Those guys have heart, respect, integrity, and they work their butts off...and what a great attitude this kid has.

They are true class acts in every sense of the word. Coaches at places like Miami and Florida State should take their kids to a Navy practice and see how they act.

I thought the Canes were soldiers, too?

Well that means they attend Army practices, and not practices full of sailors. Maybe the Army can learn a little something about being a soldier from the Canes. Something like how to use a canteen to gorge somebody's head open, or how to obtain maximum force out of combat boots when stomping an object.

By the way, GO ARMY, beat navy!

Zbikowski was almost a Midshipman.

My dad was. This is his favorite ND game each year.

It was my first ND game and year in year out always my favorite. Both teams come into the game with class and respect for one another, which was thoroughly exhibited after last years game.

not if this story is true

We all have moments in our lives that we regret. Each of the service academies has had incidents that they are embarrased about. For the most part, however, they act in a manner which represents our servicemembers and our country with great honor. "Individuals" bring dishonor to each organization (military and non-military alike) on occasion. Lets not bring the Navy down because of this one incident. A good 99% of these men (and women, but I was talking about the football team in general) will put their life on the line at some point in their career. I don't mean to overreact, but I am a retired veteran and I would prefer that we view our service academies in a positive light, just as CW has shown he will.

And, Go Air Force! (until you play ND anyway!)

not if this story is true

Although I am a ND graduate I have lived for over 40 years in Annapolis. I have seen over200 Navy football games at their stadium and many others on TV.

I do not know Kevin Patrick but I think I know a little bit about the Navy football team. The most important game other than Army and AF is ND. There is great emotion about this game and it is is not overstating the feeling that Navy has for ND to say that they hate us. Losing 42 times in a row might do that.

I can remember the game Patrick writes about but I cannot remember ANY of the after-game incidents he portrays. Navy might hate ND but In all the games I have seen they have NOT acted as Patrick says. There have been several games that Navy says they should have won. One had to do with a ND field goal that was kicked (so said the clock) after the game ended and another where they questioned the spot on a forth down.

Be that as it may, the picture that Patrick paints of Navy would make Miami look like saints. I can only say that I don't believe it because it would defy everything I have witnessed for 40 years. Navy football players are not saints but they certainly are not thugs.

Go Irish--Beat Navy

i never said Navy was bad or was trying to give them a bad rap. i have no idea if the story is truth but if it was just because your a service man doesnt mean you get a freebie on acting like a Hurricane. theres no excuse for that type of behavior.

apparently it was the 97 game at ND.
