Not sure I would call this ugly.

I would call it offensively uninspired...with a slight lean towards desperation.

Christ, we need a running game.

But we won. And dammit, I just watched that last drive 3 times...it's a thing of beauty. Those guys never gave up.

Even Mark May just said it "Charlie Weis has those guys prepared for the end of the game. They expect to win it."

ND did a great job Saturday! Very impressed with what this team can accomplish when they put their mind to it.

It was horribly ugly yet incredibly great.

You have to play the full 60 minutes. Simple as that. They did and they won the game despite giving up two big play TDs and Quinn getting jacked up most of the day by a very good defense. A VERY good defense.

The offensive line has four scrimmages coming up as far as I'm concerned. ND should win all of these games and the line had better get their act together for the Trojans. SC could end up killing Quinn if they aren't ready.

Notre Dame's offensive line looked ugly all day. Lots of reasons to be optimistic for the rest of the year, but I don't know how the OL is going to improve much. UCLA's defense is very good, but probably not better than USC or our bowl opponent.

Still, I'm glad for the win and proud of the way the team kept playing.

I am surprised people don't consider this an ugly win. At some points during the game I had to put a pillow over half of my face because the O was that terrrible. I mean this is the same UCLA team that got beat by friggin Ty Willingham. ND was ranked in the top 10 and almost got upset at home by a middle of the pack team in the Pac 10. This should have been atleast a two score win imo. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy that they won the game and that this team does not give up. But this win was ugly.

If Notre Dame goes beats USC on game winning drive with 20 ticks left and they gave us a chance by lets say Zbikowski coming up with a interception and Brady driving the field... Would they say Pete Carrol was a dumb coach and would they drop us again?

Your right this was a beautiful win. And the reason it was so beautiful is because when you played as bad offensively as what the Irish did and just not really look in sync and still win the game against a great defense in ucla that's saying something about your squad. The battle tested Irish could go down to the wire with anyone. Nice comeback guys

I was watching USC play Washington a couple of weeks ago and they only won by 7 points. What an ugly win. Obviously, this means that USC is a very bad team. And not only that, they only beat Arizona by 7 points.

At this point, teams like ND and USC need to just call it quits, because they are obviously not very good.

I now know how other teams can feel helpless and lost as we once did with Ty. 4 very nice UCLA gentlemen sitting right in front of me could not get over how inept their coaching staff was. Big example, and something I could have seen Ty doing: you'd think, after we score the go ahead TD, kick the extra point, and get ready for the ensuing kickoff, would be enough time to get your offense together with plays called. But what does UCLA do? Their offense gets out there with the clock running and seems to have no idea what formation to be in or anything. Landri gets the sack, on a 3 man rush, and that's it, game over. Thank god we have Charlie.

The fact that ND drops every time one of these games happen, yet USC stays consistently ahead of undefeated teams like WVU is silly IMO. How the hell did USC stay ahead of UM despite all of their near losses? It doesn't make any damn sense.

Peopl have MUCH more of an infatuation(love) of USC than they do with Notre Dame.

It wasn't ugly or great. It was lucky.Yes UCLA came in with a highly rated defense. But that was no reason for our offensive line to play like crap. And any team with some kind of speed is gonna play us tight. So get ready for some more " ugly ' games. Until we play a good team with some speed and we lose, then it's gonna be a "ugly" lost.

but one thing can be said ucla did not pull an msu .i disagre about the luck thing nybro luck was the way the ball sat on the msu players body as and nd player scooped it up. the pass that brady made and the catch jeff made was pure passion i do agree that our oline play is rediculous .

USC is unbeaten. Notre Dame has one very bad loss. Safe to say that the 0 in the loss column is what has people gripping them a little tight.

SC will have a loss going into the ND game.
