It didn't suprise me. I was thinking we would drop. That's the third drop after wins this season. So much for ND get special treatment in the polls argument.

well, they did play a ranked team at their place in terrible conditions. I would have loved to see them drop, but they pulled that game out of their ass and maybe they aren't as bad as people thought. McCoy played a really good game.

so texas is allowed to pull a game out of their asses and we aren't?

We certainly shouldn't have moved up, but we shouldn't have moved down either. We do get special treatment in the polls, special bad treatment.

i don't see how we are supposed to be in the top 10. our offense was man handled by ucla on saturday. our defense showed that it is still very open to getting beat on the deep ball. it took 3 and 1/2 quarters for our d-line to show up.

bear in mind that we almost got beat by a team that doesn't even have their number one QB playing.

we still have a ton to work on before being in the top ten is justified in the human polls. we should be blowing out teams like Stanford, Purdue and UCLA by half time.

Florida jumped us? PLEASE...that's BS.

OK, two things here... First, before yesterday, ND's best win was GT. But that took a big hit yesterday, what with Clemson's rout of Tech. Currently, ND owns zero wins against teams in the top 20 (Tech is now 21). Meanwhile, Florida has wins over Tenn and LSU.

Second, there was a thread last week in which some people expressed anxiety over a UF-ND bowl game, on the grounds that UF was a lot better... I don't agree that it would be a wipe out, but I do think UF would be favored if such a game were played next week. So their being ranked above ND isn't necessarily the result of some grand conspiracy.

tennessee/alabama is a rivarly.
that has absolutely nothing to do with either the outcome or the ranking....it's artificial bullshit used as an excuse to not drop a team who barely scraped by. Just like not covering the spread. I don't give a rat's ass what the oddsmakers in Vegas think but basing a ranking on point spread is garbage.

I thought Alabama/Auburn is their big rivalry? Or do they have a bunch of rivalry games so a tight game can never result in a drop in the polls?

I'm not saying ND should have gone up at all, but they shouldn't have dropped....no one else that barely beat an unranked team, dropped.

UM only has one....against an ND team that seems to be getting bashed here today. Maybe UM should be dropped below UTx, UF and UTn.

FYI, Michigan also beat Wisconsin (currently 7-1 and ranked #17/18) 27-13.

NDGettysburg, I totally agree about WV. ND, and several other 1-loss teams, should be ranked above them, at least until they play Louisville.

My bad, I was looking at the BCS standings where Wisconsin is 21. BTW, all of Wisconsins wins are agaisnt unranked teams. They don't play another ranked team and lost to the only ranked team they played. If you only look at their record, they might be a BCS/NC caliber team.

You know, I think Jigga posted somewhere that NOBODY plays a difficult schedule. We could debate this for weeks, but the fact is that if we keep winning eventually we're going to move up. It doesn't matter if it's a close win or a blow out. Yes, we're going to get the hate from the usual suspects, but we'll also get some love eventually. If we are 12-1 at the end of the season, who cares what the polls/media is saying. We will have proved it on the field and that's good enough for me. Then we can bitch and moan about how unfairly we've been treated if we are not in the top 5.
