Similar lineup to last week, only change in BCS Bowls is GT playing AUB instead of LOU.

8 ND opponents, GT, UM, USC, Navy, PSU, MSU, PU, and AF projected to bowls.
3 ND opponents, GT, UM, USC projected to BCS Bowls.

NC Game OSU v WVU
Sugar Urban v Weis
Orange GT v AUB
Fiesta UTx V BSU
Rose USC v UM

I'm curious how CBS sees Miami going to the Gator Bowl while Louisville goes to the Sun Bowl.

Are those of you who were terrified last week about ND being matched up with an undefeated UF still fearful of a Gator matchup?

I'd be very scared of playing the Gators. Their D is very, very good, and they have enough weapons on offense to worry me against our porous D.

Our schedule doesn't just play harder. It IS harder.

And it's not that I'm saying that ND couldn't win against Florida. I'm saying that Florida has the same strengths as the OSU team that pasted ND in last year's bowl game. Fast wide recievers, a mobile quarterback (tebow), and a lock-down blitzing defense. ND would have trouble with Florida, just as they did with OSU and I personally would rather see ND play a different team, say any of those projected BCS teams except for OSU or UMich. I think ND stacks up FAR better against WVA, Texas, Boise State, GTech, Auburn, or even USC. It's just that Florida, UMich, and OSU have the blitzing defense and speedy wide reciever combo that gives the current Irish team fits.

Oh, and I think I've come up with an excuse for ND losing all these bowl games. ND will always get a better bowl than it deserves, simply due to its name value. The other team in that bowl will generally have to get there on talent alone. Thus, for the same bowl level, ND will generally be playing a slightly better team. It's still no excuse, but it's a reason. Any thoughts?

Yeah, that should make everyone feel better about the two-game bowl loosing streak to the mighty Oregon State Beavers.

Oregon State had good teams both of those years. I work with an OSU alum who rubs that in all the time.

But it is true though, ND will always get a higher bowl than it deserves. I'm to lazy to look it up, but when was the last time ND played in a bowl game where it was the higher ranked of the two teams?

p.s. I smell chickens on this thread.

No. That first team was damn good and was possibly playing as well as any team in the country at the time. Remember they had Bengals duo Chad Johnson and TJ Housmanzadeh and a very athletic defensive front.

The second game, a mediocre OSU played a mediocre ND team with a fired coach and who had quit long before they lost him. There weren't many bowl teams that wouldn't have beat ND that night.

As for your co-worker, just remind him that OSU is now back to where they belong and ND is headed back to where they should be. Those two bowl wins were the highwater mark of Beaver football, beating ND teams that were far from special. Our highwater marks are national titles and wins against against some powerhouses at their peaks. Where would he rather be at this point?

And they had to hire Dennis Erickson to do it.

I think they beat Ty's Guys last week.

In what I find the biggest surprise in all of college sports in 2006:

The Oregon State Beavers won the College World Series

WTF?

Based on current standings, that's not unreasonable to think. The computers really don't like WVU. Of course a win by WVU or UL over the other will really help their respective case.

I think a win by Louisville over WVU would go farther in the computer rankings than a win by WVU over louisville, seems that Louisvilee has played a TAD harder non conference schedule than the "mighty" WV team. Which isn't saying much.

I actually was very suprised to see WVU ranked 5th, louisville 7th in the BCS considering their putred scedules.... with Louisville(7), Rutgers(16) and Pitt(25-30) coming down the pipe the SOS is only going to go up. When OSU/Mich play their ranking will go up in the polls. It's kind of the perfect storm for the big east with rutgers and pitt doing well. It really is believable that WVU or Louisville could play for the NC, I guess we might as well get used to it.

until our defense shows that it can play with top 10 teams, i would have to favor florida.

the way i see it, were #8 right now. right now, as bad as this sounds, we should root for michigan and ohio state, along with usc obviously. We need 4 teams: west virginia, louisville, auburn, and florida all to lose one more time, which is almost likely considering that wvu an louisville play eachother and the Big East is looking better every week, and because of the tough schedules remaining for both Auburn and Florida. (florida is going to get upset this weekend by georgia) If we are ranked #4 going into those games, (Ohio State vs. Michigan, and Notre Dame vs. USC) then we should be able to move up to #2. Now i know that a lot of you will say that Michigan wont drop below ND if they lose to OSU and we beat USC, but they will. No one besides OSU and Michigan fans would want to see a OSU-Michigan rematch. If were ranked #4 going into USC, we have a chance at the Championship.

It would be interesting if both us and Cal end up with one loss who would end up higer. Both early season losses to top 10 teams and wins over SC. Interesting.

That actually would be a really interesting scenario. ND's loss was at home, but Cal's was on the road. But then again, ND also lost to a higher ranked team. Both wins against USC would've been @ USC (and now that I think of it, I doubt this scenario is gonna happen-I can't see USC losing 2 games at home this season. Maybe they could lose 2 games, but I doubt they'd lose 2 at home). Both teams have yet to play UCLA @ home.

In the end, I think the wins against Oregon and ASU would probly be enough to keep Cal ahead of the Irish. We probly should be rooting for USC in their game from a strategic standpoint (although I doubt I can bring myself to that).

I will never be able to root for USC in any situation. Rather slide down a 20 foot long razorblade into a pool of alcohol than root for Poodle and USC.
