Agreed. Second episode was much better.

Jason Street's girlfriend Lyla Garrity is smoking hot. Love those brunettes.

Yep, she is. She may be beyond smokin' too... if that's possible. I'm a brunette man myself.

I also think the new QB1 is believable. Either he is a damn good actor or is being coached up well. He just came across as lost and then played it up well. When he took him out to the field, it just seemed real. The grandma and the pie thing was comedy, too.

HAHA the show has really let me down, she is def. hot though. I expected a lot more from it, it is like Remember The Titans and the movie Friday Night Lights wrapped up together, and the coach sucks...he doesn't seem very coach like.

I like the show, even though I haven't seen a whole episode yet. Haven't seen the movie yet, but the show makes me want to. Since the director is the same as the movie, is the cinematography the same? It's a pretty unique style that isn't always the best for vision clarity, but may help in bringing about a more emotional response by the viewer.

The scene where the coach brought QB1 out to the stadium the night before the game sent chills down my spine.

Echoing previous comments, I was a little dissapointed by episode 1 (almost an exact duplicate of the movie) but episode 2 was great. I'll definitely watch the rest of the year.

Yeah, first string rally girls!!!

You could see that scene coming, yet it was still funny.

I think the coach's wife on that show is 100% MILF material.

The kid who plays the back up QB has almost no football experience. He said he basically lied during the audition when they asked him if he could play. He has been coached up pretty well. He also said he is from the Chicago area so the Texas accent has been a challenge for him. Jason Streeter is played by a kid from down here in Central Florida who played for a real good high school team. He was looked at by some D1 schools but ultimately decided football wasn't what he wanted to do.

Friday Night Lights, Episode 3

Friday Night Lights, Episode 3

Looks like the team is bringing in a ringer. New Orleans QB that is a Hurricane Katrina refugee. Hasn't had a speaking part yet, so we'll see what next week brings. He won a state title in Louisiana.

All this just as the team had their "crossroads" moment and was starting to come together after a horrendous 1-1 start.

Three episodes and so far not a single character on the show has been seen ENJOYING high school football. Everyone's pride, joy, misery, stress and sadness has centered around this high school football team.

If I lived in a town like this one, I'd move. If I had to play or coach there, I'd drive down to the Rio Grande and jump in.

Pretty decent so far, but I'd like to see some of these characters develop some depth soon. Everyone is pretty much all about football now.

I'm really intrigued by this QB from New Orleans.

And they use the dramatic element of having him appear in two different scenes during the episode and he didn't speak in either one.

Hard core.

I never seen so many attractive people in such a small town driving such piece of crap automobiles. Has anyone in this town purchased a truck made after 1978?

That being said...I'm hooked.

You can drive a truck in Texas for 30 years. Trucks get handed down and handed down. It's amazing actually. Also, it adds realism IMO.

Not being from smalltown/Big football Texas it is hard for me to grasp the realism with this show although I love it. I'm not used to 30 year old trucks, 24 year old high school kids and 10,000 seat high school football stadiums. Although, I now live in Florida so the idea of 24 year old high school students isn't that far-fetched anymore.

Well, I played my HS ball in Washington, but we had a 7000 seat stadium with astroturf... and this was back in the early to mid 90s. It's pretty realistic for some...

If some dude at a fast food diner started talking shit to my kid about having to move because of losing one football game, I'd probably flood the floor with his has been teeth.

I have lived in both dallas and pittsburgh, played in the WPIAL, I believe anything when it comes to high school football. Recruiting, steriods, cheerleaders doing homework for the players, alcohol, racism but I refuse to believe that ND would have been streets choice, not with Clausen already committed?

Friday Night Lights (Monday Night)

Friday Night Lights (Monday Night)

Did anyone catch it this week? I thought it was a pretty decent show this week overall, pretty predicable, but what else do you expect for a high school melodrama.

Man, at the end though... I was ready to punch Buddy in the face.

I was disappointed in Ray "Voodoo" Tatum. He pretty much had attitude from the word "go", so now the character has zero depth. I was curious to see how he was going to fit in with the team, but he pretty much outcast himself immediately.

This episode took a step back from the last couple.

His character was simply there to help develop Matt Saracen's QB1 character. Nothing more, nothing less. Took a step back even with Lyla in her skivvies?
