NCAA Super Rankings - Who is the #1 team in College Football?

After 6 weeks of football and a few mild upsets here and there, there are 9 teams left that remain undefeated. Of those we find 8 in the NCAA Super Rankings this week (rankings at http://www.brianmmorgan.com/). However, many people beg to ask... "Why is OSU #1? Why not Michigan? Why not Florida? where is WVU? Why are the Mountaineers not even in your top 15?" Simply said... strength of schedule. Will the Irish be able to move up to the top 2 before the end of the season? Quite possibly... especially with a victory over USC.

If the current rankings are any indication of who will be the national champion, the annual Michigan v. Ohio State game will go a long way to determining the best team in college football. Check out the new Super Rankings, which lists all 119 I-A teams. Is your favorite team #1? Is the same #1 from the AP poll #1 in the Super Rankings? Let us know who you think should be #1 and why in the forums at http://www.brianmmorgan.com/

Wow! You mean that http://www.brianmorgan.com is a place where we can go on the INTERNET and DISCUSS in a FORUM whether or not Notre Dame can get to #2? Wow! I'll be sure to tell all of my friends about http://www.brianmorgan.com, because right now there isn't a single place out there where I can go on the INTERNET and DISCUSS in a FORUM whether or not Notre Dame can get to #2! Thanks for telling us about http://www.brianmorgan.com dude! And wow! You did so in your very first and only post on here too!

Is it SPAM? I think it's only fair that we keep an eye on his rankings. He could be right. He could be wrong. Never hurts to give him a shot.

(I also did not see any ads on his site...so it's not unreasonable to watch the rankings)

Thank you.... .and you are correct.... there are no ads. I am doing this out of love for the game and a hate for the BCS :)

No sweat. I have issues with the BCS, so I wish you luck. It's always fun to see a new poll come up. It helps to facilitate discussions around what parts of the game are most important (score, yards, time of possession, defensive stats, etc).

So, keep posting with updates...let us know how it goes. (I will try to remember to check from time to time too.)

Maybe you could tell us a bit about what aspects of the games that you see are important? (not the formula per se, but rather the more heavily weighted items you include or deem critical)

It's not spam... I've created a foolproof formula that I believe will show a true national champion... much better than the entire BCS system. Follow the rankings the rest of the year and at least give it a chance before you kill it off.

The reason I came to post it here is that I have been developing it over the first few weeks, and since the rankings meant nothing until after about 5 weeks, chose to start it here because I am, and always have been, a Notre Dame fan. I have to admit that I bleed green (Marshall University grad and now an MU professor), but love the Irish (and no, I'm not just saying that). My grandfather brought me up on Notre Dame football from the time I was little.

You could put him on your Ignore List rather than become violent.

Have you run any prior season's data through your program to support the claim of "a true national champion"?

Officially, no. I have to enter each result by hand so that things can take over (formula). The formula has been used for years, but not online so I don't have historical data. And because it's not just all on wins and losses for a single team, it's not easy to go back and enter it without simulating the entire season.

BUT, I'm adding some new stuff to the site, such as maximum points possible, end of season projections, how the points are determined, etc.
