Doesn't every great coach have great talent though? Recruiting is a piece of the coaching puzzle (becoming a bigger one every year).

Even mid-major "great" coaches (Peterson, Kelly at UC, Meyer at Utah) had great talent in relation to their schedule's competition.

IMO, it's more impressive to see Les Miles win 13 games in a meat grinder conference and lose in the title game with a stocked roster than Kirk Ferentz winning 8 games in a crappy conference with a crappy roster.

Kelly always kicks his ass and actually has made it to a title game. Dantonio is a hipster flavor of the month pick. Kelly is a much better coach IMO.

And in turn Kelly loses to RichRod and Hoke in Michigans arguably worst teams ever. So there is that. As far as I am concerned I don't know what my list would look like, but Kelly probably wouldn't make it, might be close..

Yeah I wish I had the football knowledge to refute that. At best, I want to attribute it to us getting hit with Denard before we had a lot of good film on him.

Denard hit us two years in a row, granted the second time was mostly 4th qtr heroics, it still happened by way of 440 total yards and 5 total TDS.
