We could potentially move up 4 spots in the polls if #5 Florida beats #10 LSU, #13 Okla beats #7 Texas, #14 Tenn beats #9 UGA, and #17 Cal beats #11 Oregon.

Even though Florida would remain undefeated, they would still have a tough schedule left with Aub, UGA, South Carolina, and FSU, if LSU were to beat Florida then both would remain ahead of us in the polls.

Must mention that it is very important we stomp Stanford this week, an unimpressive win against Stanford, means Oklahoma, and/orTennesse could pass us in the polls if they win seeing how they're currently ranked right behind us. A national championship is still possible, but we can't afford to have teams ranked behind us pass us in the polls.

Few other games to keep an eye on are Auburn vs. Arkansas, MSU vs. Mich, and USC vs. Washington(Washington doesn't stand a chance, but they are 4-1 so I guess you have to give them consideration). I don't see any upsets here, but I do think Ark vs. Aub could be interesting.

We will get jumped in the polls most likely, but loses are good for those unbeaten teams still out there.

I say LSU beats Florida this weekend. Florida has it tough the nexts few weeks. They have Georgia and Auburn to follow...brutal.

I also feel like MSU is going to show up this weekend against Mich. I don't know about everyone else, but I would love to see MSU win that game. Not sure if Stanton is playing though?

I agree with you on LSU beating Florida. Their D looks darn impressive and I feel they'll give Leak fits at QB. I can't see the Mich. St. pissheads giving Michigan a game though. They're in such disarray with their annual "MSU melt down" right now!

No way man, I don't want MSU or UM to lose, but obviously one of them has to...

MSU already dropped a game to Ill. If they take out UM, it makes us look bad because we got blown out by UM at home.

Best scenario is for UM to finish with a max of one or two losses this year. We want them to be undefeated going into the OSU game. It looks like OSU will probably be undefeated at that point too. I'm guessing the winner of that game goes to the title game. As long as UM looks great, pollsters understand that we were playig a great team that day. It really hurt us last year that we lost to MSU and they collapsed. Had they finished with one or two losses, people wouldn't have had such a problem putting us in the Fiesta Bowl.

We already looked bad, as your "blown out" notes. Doesn't it make us look improved if the team we beat, beats the team that blew us out? Think about it.

A one loss UM teams stays ranked above us, unless perhaps they lost to the the team that lost to Illinois.

It really hurt us last year that we lost to MSU and they collapsed.

Which is another reason why we need them to beat the Skunkbears.

Had they finished with one or two losses, people wouldn't have had such a problem putting us in the Fiesta Bowl.

Aside from "they're not in a conference", "they play cupcakes", "the eastern media loves them", "the computers love them", "NBC got them in that bowl", or any of the other myriad problems cited by ND detractors.

We could move up, but I don't care that much this early. If we go 10-2 or 11-1, we will play in a good bowl.

We won't be playing for the National Championship...so all I care about is going 11-1...RUN THE TABLE!!! WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN!!!!!!!

The rankings be damned.

I agree with you. Run the table (including putting a KNOT on USC's head), which means 11-1, which means a BCS game. IMO that elusive national title is still 2 years away ... "growing pains" next year!

Michigan has PSU, and Iowa after MSU, they could lose one if not both of those games. By the time Michigan plays PSU, or Iowa we could be the 8th or 9th ranked team, and Michigan would probably still be the 6th ranked team. So if Michigan were to lose to Iowa or PSU they could fall behind us in the polls even though they beat us earlier in the season. The polls are such a wacky thing, you get punished for losing later in the year. Remember 93' when FSU passed us in the polls even though we beat them.

Basically what I'm saying is if in two weeks Michigan is still ranked 6th and loses to PSU they would fall at least 5 or 6 spots, essentially falling behind us in the polls. Best scenario would be for Michigan to lose to both PSU, and Iowa, and then have Michigan beat OSU at the end of the year. We win out we'll certainly be somewhere in the top 5, so if a 2 loss Michigan team beats OSU, OSU would fall behind us in the polls, and USC would be behind us in the polls because we beat them.

Its tough but a NC is still possible. Louisville and WVA have some trap games against Rutgers, Pitt and even South Florida. South Florida beat UL last year I think. And the loser of the UWV Louisville game will definitely fall behind us in the polls.

Mike and the Mad Dog said the other day on the radio that a one loss Notre Dame team would jump an undefeated WVU or Louisville in the BCS. Not sure if thats possible or not, but it would be sweet.

I think that would have been possible if the UM game was close. but due to the blowout factor, and "at home", if the winner of the Louisville/WV game goes undefeated, they'll be ahead of us in the rankings.

That being said, there are other one-loss teams that may go ahead of them. Say, Texas for instance, if they win out.
