I'm with a national mortgage, real estate, and financial services company. We are teaching middle america how to use their mortgage as an investment tool...I don't talk business on this site but seeing you guys opened the door....I make residual income off of home sales, loans and indexed products that are principle and investment secure...the more afluent people in this country can take a loss and recoupe in a minimal amount of time...middle class americans can't...therefore they don't invest...with secure products that are indexed off of the S&P 500 they don't have to worry about loosing what little (or not so little) they have...8% return after commission pretty hard to beat!! Social Security is going the way of the dinosaur and enron pretty much took security in your pension away...people must invest or suffer severely down the road....sorry you'all but thats my ten cents worth

Hi Tech huh? I'm a network admin, what do you do in tech?

Until last Thursday I was a Technical Project Manager for Software Development projects. Before that I was a Materials Planner doing capacity planning for the Pentium2/3/4 processors.

I just got laid off last Thursday as part of the Intel layoffs.

So, what I am doing right now is cruising Notre Dame boards, working on my resume, and spending some more time with my kids (took my 3 year old to a Pumpkin patch yesterday!)

What are your current holdings?

Qualcomm, Starbucks, Occam Networks, Intel, TravelZoo, and few mutual funds.

The stock stuff is my playing around money...the mutual funds are my 401k. I don't play with that.

In my 401k I am about 50% in foreign funds, split evenly between Europe and Asia. I have no technology specific funds though. Mainly broad-based industry funds. Some biotech, some old-industry, some consumer products.

I had GE, JNJ, and a few other bluechips until April...but I cashed them all out.

The same here. I have a Scottrade account to play around with and then my 401k through my employer. The 401k is managed by Prudential, so I don't touch it.

Right now I'm only holding Cisco (CSCO), Sirius (SIRI) and Health Grades (HGRD). I bought about 100 share of Sirius and Health Grades and plan on holding them for 2+ years.

Oh, and I also have delved a little into lending at Prosper.com, where you can make little chunks of personal loans to individuals.

congrats on the the Pumpkin patch visit! For me, I think Pumpkin patches will always be connected with good ol' Linus.

If I am going to be laid off for a bit, I am going to spend the downtime with the family... We never get enough time...it's best to make good use of it.

Next week, I am going to surprise her at school and take her to the zoo.

I invest a set amount every month with sharebuilder. I just started about 2 years ago and am very pleased with sharebuilder. Currently I have GE, Beacon Power Corp (BCON) Las Vegas Sands (LVS), and Universal Display Corp (PANL) I'm not a pro but I have had a very good learning expirence while I have been doing it.

I used Sharebuilder prior to using Scottrade. I didn't like the fact I couldn't purchase pink sheets.
