Wow...Booker helped convince Lambert to go to ND?

*******************************
Lambert then started sliding academically in the spring of his freshman year, and he began to wonder if he could ever fit in.

Some heart-to-heart talks with his high school teammate and cousin, Florida State running back Lorenzo Booker, helped get Lambert turned around. Yes, that Lorenzo Booker -- the one who spurned ND at the 11th hour four and a half years ago for Florida State.

Ironically, Lambert's college decision also came down to Notre Dame and Florida State too, and Booker helped nudge him toward South Bend.

"His recruiting process was so much different from mine," Lambert said. "I mean, it was so hectic, he sometimes went weeks without answering his phone. But I think he handled it well. I tried to model myself after him.

"When it came time to make a decision, he told me to be selfish and he talked to me about the good things about Notre Dame. He wasn't bias. And when it came time for me to put my life back together, he helped me find the resources to do that. He's meant a lot to me."
