Is anyone else concerned?

First and foremost, I am elated that we pulled out the W. I nearly woke up all my kids and wife screaming at the TV watching the game. I am still somewhat in shock. What a crazy game. Kudos to the team for not giving up.

But 5 of the last 6 games have me a little nervous about this staff.

Stanford...We needed a last minute comeback to beat this bad football team

Ohio State...We got dominated.

GT...Narrowly escape with a W against a mediocre team.

Michigan...We weren't ready to play and got dominated at home

MSU...Again, not ready to play. Dominated for 3 quarters. Needed a miraculous comeback to beat this middle of the road Big 10 team.

At least we are winning. A Tyrone coached Irish would have folded. But in 4 of these 5 games our defense gave up huge points and our QB looked like a dear in the headlights.
We are getting ready to head into the easy part of our schedule. We should win out easily until the USC game. But at this point, I have more questions than answers.

I am VERY concerned and that has not changed even with the PSU win.

However, I have attributed that to a lack of emotion and heart on the team. They have been playing cold it seems.

I am praying that this is the turning point. When they play with confidence and fire, they do so well...

if this dosent light a fire under them nothing will shoot im this far away from a heart attack concerned yes was this a bitter sweet win offcourse but it was a win and as someone stated before cw i dont think this team had enough mental toughness to pull of this kind of comeback do i think we could win the nc not really but this is the type of thing (and why lou holtz was so pumped after the game ) that brings a team toghether if they feed of this game and get nasty and stop careing what people will say if they are playing nasty it will only get better

The defense worries me. The linebackers are getting blown off the ball...consequently the safties have to move up which exposes the secondary. EVERYONE on the defense could use some takling drills......saw a lot of sloppy tacking out there

Another concern is I would like to see another back emerge to backup Darius

Honestly, there is not one phase of the game that I don't have some type of concern over. BQ is off, the OL isn't opening holes, the Wr's aren't getting separation, Weis takes all kinds of unnecessary risks, we don't know if our FG kicker can connect from 40 yards, DW isn't having a great season, the DL isn't getting a pass rush, the LB's aren't stuffing the run, the secondary is getting burnt. See what I mean?

Of course, I don't mean that all of these are HUGE problematic areas. Just that we don't seem to do anything consistantly well.

GT...Narrowly escape with a W against a mediocre team.

Since when has GT been mediocre?

Unless they get stomped this week versus Virginia Tech, I think the consensus on Georgia Tech is they are a pretty good football team.

Edit: Apparently the AP doesn't believe GT is mediocre, #24 in this weeks rankings.

Not in the slightest. We just fought 4 of the best 5 opponents on our schedule and came out 3-1. I'll take that anyday all things considered.

As much as I hate to say it, this is absolutely right.
It's a great W. But are we obligated now to send a Thank You note to MSU.
That was a gift that will keep on giving.

Brady, I'm afraid has lost the respect of his teammates, especially his receivers.
After last weeks thread started by NDGettysburg proffering this:
What's up with the Shark?
There was a lot of debate.

This week I intentionally paid very close attention to the sideline actions and behaviors of ND's offensive big four (Quinn, Samardjiza, McKnight and Walker) and thankfully ABC obliged me by showing the ND sideline a lot.
The player interaction between Brady and his teammates is odd, to say the least.
His offensive teammates avoid him, while the scrubs look at him somewhat bewildered.
When he spoke to Rhema, right on camera now, that was a confrontation.
Brady is, to me, 'obviously' manic in his mannerisms.
He sits by himself looking down, then erupts off the bench, races over to Jeff and Rhema, who are talking, quickly yells something to Jeff, then leaves.
Jeff and Rhema look at each other incredulously as if to say what the hell is wrong with him. You can almost see the caption bubble over each of their heads saying..."We know what the hell we're doing, do you? Throw the fucking ball on target and that solves 75% of this offenses problem."
I'm afraid Brady has, probably through all the off-season attention, become "scripted."
By that I mean he's so conscious of what's going on around him that he's become a little paranoid.
He reminds, in this sense, of A-Rod and Phil Mickelson.
So hyper-aware of their surroundings that they're mentally 'out of the game'.

Please spare me the 'hater' shit here.
It's senseless and wrong. I do not hate Notre Dame.
Shall I repeat that...I do not hate Notre Dame.
I, in fact, love Notre Dame.
But I see very well out of both eyes, mind you, and this is what's going on.
Brady's got a problem and it's all his. Even Kirk Herbstreit recognized it.
I hope he can overcome it.
