Wow, I've been gone awhile, I didn't realize everyone decided to turn on our QB. A few quick notes I'd like to review with you:
1. Being the ND QB carries more pressure then anyone playing on Sundays.
2. Are you all forgetting the rain and 35 mph winds last night, next time the weather is bad in your area, go outside with your buddies and throw the ball around, trust me you'll look stupid.
3. Leading your team to 2 comebacks, can you question his toughness in either game.
4. 2 of the 3 picks weren't his fault vs Mich.
5. No running game
6. Piss poor OL blocking most of the time
7. 11 td vs 4 int
8. Don't ever forget about the first 2 years this guys took a beaten, Drew couldn't take that abuse.
I could go on and on, BQ performs under a microscope, lay off, QB is the most difficult position to play in all of sports.
By the way Drew Stanton was 10/22 with 2 pics and a fumble last night, which game were you watching?
To address a few of your points:
1. While I agree that being the QB at ND is pressure packed. Playing QB in the NFL is potentially life ending. Tghe speed of the game is SO much faster. The guys are bigger, faster, and stronger than in college. The defenses are WAY more complex. Every guy out their on that field on Sunday is a stud. Even the guys on the bench are. So while the QB position at ND carries a greta deal of mental pressure, playing on Sunday is far more difficult than playing on Saturday due to the level of competiton.
2, We aren't talking about BQ looking bad in just one game, he's been off in every game. He has not been ready to play in the 1st quarter of any game. Last year we looked crisp on our first drive of every game, this year we look out of sync.
3. I agree that he never quit in any game. But then again, I thought we assumed this from every player on every ND team.
4, 5. Totally agree. The lack of a running threat is absolutely hurting him and several of his INT's were not his fault.
6. Other than having trouble picking up blitzes, I think the OL is doing a decent job in pass protection.
7. 11 TD's to 4 INT's is excellent (but not as good as last year)
8. Touhg to say how Stanton would have done in our system under Tyrone. Too many variables to consider.
Overall, I still like BQ as our QB. I am just not so certain now that he will be an excellent pro and no longer consider him a top 10 pick in the draft. Time will tell though.
