I think a lot was learned today.
1. Our defense is as bad as it was last year, maybe even worse. At least last years D could stuff the run. This D can't stop the run or the pass.
One thing I will say and I'm sure I'll be criticized for is this...... I was pissed off at Jeff Samardzija today. It wasn't because he didn't have an impact, but because he appeared to have a bad attitude, particularly on the sidelines when Quinn was trying to talk to him; I think he walked away.
.
Did you see him not even make an attempt at tackling the UM player that had the last interception? Ran right by him and he never made a move towards him. I love the guy (and my oldest son idolizes him) but that pissed me off.One thing I will say and I'm sure I'll be criticized for is this...... I was pissed off at Jeff Samardzija today. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the guy---I wore his jersey in the 1st quarter, until our luck ran out---but I'm beginning to wonder how committed he is.
Watching him run routes in the 3rd quarter it looked to me like he had packed it in. Maybe Getty was on to something with his previous thread.

I saw shark get mad for the FIRST time today, he's MY favorate player on this team, because he actually is REALLLLLLY good. He's pissed off because he is CONSTATLY overthrown. If the ball just got to him he'd make the play, no matter the coverage. It really looks like he cares about this team more than anyone. I've never seen him celebrate as an individual, it's either flashing the shamrock, or congradulating the team.
I dont understand how you all DONT understand how good the shark is. He has great field awareness, runs GREAT routes, has glue for hands and is just amazing.
He's definitely been overthrown alot this season...I'm not arguing that. The observation I made that you completely ignored was that he let the Michigan player who got the turnover, run right by him with no attempt at a tackle. That's alot of crap and I was surprised he did it. That's not thinking of the team first.I saw shark get mad for the FIRST time today, he's MY favorate player on this team, because he actually is REALLLLLLY good. you sure you're watching the same guy?I've never seen him celebrate as an individual, it's either flashing the shamrock, or congradulating the team.
I don't think that's been the question at allI dont understand how you all DONT understand how good the shark is. He has great field awareness, runs GREAT routes, has glue for hands and is just amazing.
I am not happy about the game either. I guess I have already gone through the 3 phases of denial, anger, and now acceptance that ND is not the best team in the land. 27 points are not far from 30 off but 5 turnovers led to the wide margin...not poor play. Poor play is what caused Willingham to lose his job. I guess 5 turnovers can be called poor play but oh well. I'm disappointed with the "nastiness" of the football team this year. Does anyone feel that Weis may have gone soft?

2. BQ is not Heisman material nor 1st overall pick in the coming draft
3. This team is not a legit contender.
4. Our offense isn't all powerful like we thought. The trend continues of our offense tanking against good defensive teams (Michigan and OSU last year, GT and Michigan this year)
5. Despite Weis being a good coach, he has a lot to prove before he can be called "elite". We've been manhandled twice in 4 games, that doesn't often happen to the "the greats".
And before I proclaim that the world is coming to an end, know that I still think our programi s moving in the right direction. We need to get 2 or 3 consecutive top 10 recruiting classes filled with 5 star recruits before we can truly expect to hang wiht the big boys. But we definitely moving in the right direction.
