Chances of MSU versus ND being "Gameday" next week?

Alright, I know you guys have a huge game versus Michigan coming up. And it is a bigger game to pretty much everyone outside of East Lansing.

But, Ive heard some rumors and such about Gameday coming to East Lansing next week. The rumors say that ESPN is down to three site choices:

East Lansing, MI
Fayettville, AR
Columbus, OH

Personally, I think that Gameday chooses EL for the game...what do you guys think are the chances of this happening?

It is the 40th anniversary of The Game. I don't think any UM/ND game has ever matched the hype of the '66 game. It provides Gameday a theme, providing we're both undefeated.

After Bama dodged Vandy and Ark got walloped by the Trojans I'd expect that to be a yawner on the interest meter. Two coaches on the hotseat would be the main theme.

If PSU had beaten ND by the same score, PSU at OSU would be a natural.

It's really a terrible week for football games a lot of tremendous mismatches. Looking at the schedule the only other game that might be of interest is UM/Wisconsin.

I don't think the game is of particular interest. MSU hasn't looked good at all so far, and the "Revenge" angle has been almost forgotten as ND has won their first two games, and is contending for a title run. The two teams don't appear to be in the same league.

That's right. The game is in L.A. Too bad for us, but playing Michigan St. with Game Day there would be excellent. Otherwise, we don't get any home Game Day games.

From our schedule UCLA would be the best candidate if they get past Oregon. They should their other games.

Oct 21st is same day as Tennessee/Alabama, Nebraska/Texas, Michigan/Iowa, and FSU/BC.

First off, there arent a ton of great games next week.

MSU looked very good versus Eastern Michigan. We were up 24-3 with a couple minutes left in the first half...then the Eagles had several extremly unlikely trick plays completed in a row and got back into it. Then we blew it out again. But of course, it was just EMU. It will be interesting to see how we play versus Pitt.

Anyway, Think about it for a sec:

- Everyone will want to see if ND can actually avoid the upset
- ESPN can milk the 40th anniversery of the game of century
- Two of the nations best Quarterbacks
- ETC, ETC.

Correct assessment Spartan Pride.

Everyone will want to see if ND can actually avoid the upset

And a lot of them would tune to root for MSU for the first time.

And ESPN doesn't have to keep referencing NBC for an E.L. game.

ND will not be travelling by train.

I'm pretty sure that after they blew out PSU, if ND beats Michigan, nobody is going to "look out for" the upset @ MSU. If they go in there unbeaten it's not a landmine game or anything, and nobody will even be on upset watch. It'll be expected to be a blowout. And it will be a blowout. MSU is the same bad team right now that they were after OSU last year.

You'll note, I'm sure, that though he was talked about as a dark horse Heisman candidate and a top player nationally all offseason, nobody has said a word about Stanton since the season started. That's because his team hasn't looked good enough so far to make anybody think they have a shot vs ND, OSU or Michigan.

you know what ralph i like the fact that your oh so optimistic about our team, but its getting to be a lil too cocky for me. if we did beat UM. MSU will be a tough test for us. the "revenge" factor will be in full affect after they planted their flag in our stadium. AND if gameday was there dont you think their fans and players will be twice as hyped up for the game. last year i didnt think they could beat us and they proved me wrong.

i dont care what the analysts say about anygame, thats why i watch. last time we beat an opponent and got an "upset" the next game ND vs BC. that one hurt for a couple of years. ive seen ND go from good to shit and on the way back up. im tired of hearing our fans talk smack and say were "hot shit". when we havent proved anything yet.

GO IRISH!!!

its always a revenge factor no matter who we play some where down the line some one in every program we play has gotten a beat down from an irish team at some point and even if they dont have a reason personaly to beat nd besides the fact that no one wants to lose if a team goes 1-11 and the only win is against nd thier season was pretty good in their eyes

Sorry I just have trouble getting scared of a team that struggled to beat Idaho at home and gave up 20 at home to Eastern Michigan, and had to keep fighting off rallies.

MSU is the same team, to my eye, that finished last season losing every game in embarrassing fashion.

So what? MSU looked good against Eastern Michigan - BFD! Eastern Michigan sucks. The way PSU fan raved about Akron and now this I'm starting to think that the Big Televen has confused the MAC with the SEC.

Sparty is going to regret planting that flag.

Notre Dame beating MSU would be the upset. And recent history would tell you that.

They have pretty much been kicking Notre Dame's ass as of late, unless all of the "L" going down the result column in the media guide stand for "lovely".

But I'll worry about this come Sunday morning.

Well, ironically, hasn't the home team in this series kinda been the ones taking the beating lately?

The one thing I am sure of.......this attitude would get you a seat on the bench if you were one of Charlie's players. This is the wrong attitude to take into any game, let alone Michigan State. You should listen to Charlie's press conferences a little more closely. The are nuggets of gold in there that speak directly to the attitude and focus that is required to be successful. You're not gettin' it. And you call yourself a transcendentalist! L
Besides Jigga is right. It's premature to be chalking up a win against MSU with Michigan tomorrow.

Well the home team has lost 5 in a row.

But the more significant number is ND's 2-7, regardless of venue.

The only ND coach that beat MSU in the past 9 years was Ty.

Now back to the wolverweasels.

I hope the Game Day crew is there to see us destroy these guys. Planting the flag was over the top. It's time to take our pride back. Lets beat Michigan first though.

Not really. It's premature to chalk up a win against Michigan - not against Michigan State. And I'm not on the team, I don't have to pretend every team is a threat.

Also, Jigga, tell the oddsmakers (especially if ND beats Michigan and Pitt beats MSU) that ND is the underdog. If those things happen they'll be a two touchdown road favorite at least. And those things don't happen for no reason.

Like I SAID, Its just EMU. We did what we were supposed to do against a medicore team.

If you Irish fans want to tell me that MSU played a bad game versus EMU your wrong. Im going to defend the fact that MSU played very well against the Eagles (With the exception of several trick plays before the end of the first half). Im not making a big deal out of the win last saturday, Im simply defending my point that we didnt play horrible like some of you were saying. You apparently think otherwise.

And its not like MSU isnt gonna come into the game nearly as fired up as Notre Dame is...

OK Domers, there's a MSU guy in the House. You can tell by the adolescent grammatical errors:

"If you Irish fans want to tell me that MSU played a bad game versus EMU your wrong."

So take your wrong and shove it!
