I'd almost give my soul to go to any Notre Dame game. If an Irish fan gave up their opportunity to see it so that a PSU fan might, I'd implode on the spot.

We have 3 problems. 1. Ticket prices are too high, so people are more willing to sell them to anyone---regardless of who they support---to get big $. 2. Our fan-base is decentralized. Well, that's not a problem, but for stuff like a 'white-out' it is. 3. South Bend isn't intimidating. It should be, but we're too nice to outsiders. PSU fans go **** themselves. In an ideal world, no one should expect hospitality from another fan-base. That's how it's done in Europe, and it's one of the few areas where they are in the right.

If your worried about selling tickets to a "closet" PSU fan...............then simply ask to see their drivers license...............problem solved!; ( yeah I know there some ND fans from there).

that's a good idea... although there are really a ton of ND fans from PA. maybe make them take off their top layer of clothes to see what's on underneath... but that could be bad too.

My buddy got into a fight with nearly everyone sitting behind last year becuase we were standing in the 4th quarter of the MSU game. I'm all for showing respect to those who sit around me but we just made an improbable comeback and standing to cheer on the defense is just part of it. That really pisses me off, if you don't want to stand and cheer, watch it from your couch at home. And I don't care if you are a '62 alum and you have had hip replacement surgery, I take great pride in being the 12th man and if you can't take it then go home and collect your social security and watch reruns of the Golden Girls...

I hate when that happens, I was at a Knick game last season and the same thing happened to me, two Wall Sreet types asked me to sit down,I just ignored them and continued to stand. Some people really shouldn't attend games if they don't feel like standing up every now and then....

I hear ya. See the problem at ND is they call the "attendants" over and we are the ones held at fault. If we don't sit down we are thrown out. It's BS but that is what we have to deal with. At least when we score they stand up, even sometimes on 4 down and short they stand. O well, still nothing like the ND game experience, that one aspect just irks me. Incidentally, I have to deal with the same thing at the Steeler games sometimes.

It turned out not to be too bad. It looks like a lot of those people wearing white were actual Notre Dame fans. C'mon people, UNITY. The shirt costs a whole $15.

AND...it benefits the Student Association. It's a good cause and a good shirt...and it shows unity.

ND needs a color - Tennessee has orange, Nebraska red, PSU white etc. ND needs a color, either green or gold, blue is too common and doesn't stand out on TV. And everyone going to the game should wear that color. ND needs start that tradition.

I'm sure when you flash back to the sea of Nebraska red shirts, you want to throw up. Well, this year I believe Penn State has decided to attempt to "white out" the game with Notre Dame. I have a feeling that this could be very similar to the Nebraska game.

Anyone else a bit disturbed at this possibility?
Didn't happen......there was a good bit of white in the east (?) end zone but I assumed that was the school's allocation. The rest were scattered about. Crowd was very good I thought. Made alot of noise when PSU had the ball.

Plenty of PSUers running around all day....very vocal, some tried to goad me into a smack fest at the Grotto last night but I walked away like a good Catholic :)

From a student's perspective...lots of white shirts, although they were not very loud at all. I'm not sure if some of these whites were ND fans ( because I saw a decent amount of ND fans with white jerzeys on) or if there were just no reasons for PSU fans to cheer. Either way, the green towels were a hit in the student section and I hope the tradition sticks.

The crowds are going to be different than in the past. There used to be quite a bit of people (mostly older alums) who did not cheer and were pissed when people stood to cheer. Last year with USC, things changed. Now we are seeing and hearing a different ND crowd (however, the crowd was still not as loud as the USC game). I did notice that the student section seemed to be louder than normal...which is good news. Keep it up, young 'uns!!! I will keep cheering (even though my clients will continually wonder why I have no voice on Monday).

I wore a white Bettis jersey....saw alot of white Montana jerseys and then there were also a fair amount of current white jerseys. Did seem like the only people that really got into the towels were the students. A couple people around me got to their seats right before kickoff and didn't get a towel. All must have been distributed by then. Guess some fans talked their way into more than one....and I did see quite a few PSU fans with towels.

The student section rocked....maybe it was me but compared to last year it seemed like the school must have upped the ticket allocation for students......seemed alot bigger this year.

Well, click on the eBay auction link on the Forum Index and bid on one. I'm sure some of the PSU fans are trying to recoup the insane ticket prices they paid to see their team get their asses handed to them.

God, that had to be a terrible car ride home.

Now would be a good time for you to hang a "Go Irish" sign around Fr. Corby's neck on the battlefield.
Or put a ND flag in his right hand :)

(it's not actually a bad idea but it wouldn't last....the park people are pretty efficient at clearing away things people leave at monuments. something left on or around the base, they'll ignore for a little while, but something hanging on a monument, they take down asap)
