I sat in section 30 row G, last section of gold seats on ND's side. Great seats. Also located right beside where all the officials and unofficials were seated in section 31 rows a, b, c and I think d. Let me tell you first, Barksdale is a beast, an absolute beast. This kid trumped over all visitors. I followed him and a few other recruits out at halftime. When he was standing at the condiments station beside Ian Williams it was like a man standing next to a boy. WOW do I want this kid, he's not fat either. Kumara wasn't very impressive to look at, he looked very young.. Powlus spent most of his time with one player, Aurellious Benn, although Benn really looked different from a lot of the pictures I saw but he had an Orioles hat on so I assume it was him. Nuss looked like a strong candidate for a red shirt, needs to hit the weight room. I didn't see Paskorz. There was another big boy there, i think it was Emeka but not sure. Also there were a ton of kids there that I couldn't make out. I hope they were impressed, they should have been..

Actually using the alotted number of NCAA allowed official visits and bringing recruits to games for official visits. Great work.

Hey Ty saved a lot of money on the budget by not using all those officials. You can't knock success.

They were also saving money by not having the players do squats as part of their training regimen for strength and conditioning.

Yep. You heard that right. I'm almost done with Tim Prister's new book "The New Gold Standard."

According to Rueben Mendoza, the players had not been doing squats at all when he first arrived. O linemen could squat about 300 lbs when he first got there.

I'd better stop before this becomes "one of those" threads.

Surprising as that was the knock on Kirk Woolfolk when Mickey Marotti replaced him. Woolfolk was a big proponent of speed lifting. Bursts rather than bulk. Melvin Dansby and a bunch of other players used to lift at a gym in South Bend because they didn't feel they were getting the kind of lifting necessary for football strength. And the workout attitude was lax.

Supposedly that all changed under Marotti. He was a terror when he arrived and there was a noticeable difference in team strength and stamina on the field after he took over.

Did Marotti change his thinking/attitude? Or are you/Prister implying he got in step with the then management's directive ?
