Brilliant video. Glad so many see him as the "heartbeat" of this team. That is one important milestone for the '13 Irish!

#31 overall on Scouts, inc. big board. Because of his short height and arms might be a guard prospect.

2014 NFL draft -- Todd McShay's Summer Top 32 - ESPN

This seems about right. Zack's not the type who's gonna wow teams with crazy combine-type measurable and shoot up draft boards a la Eric Fisher, but he's still very athletically gifted, technically sound, understands leverage and angles as well as anybody in CFB, and has excellent intangibles. I think he'll be a rock solid player, whether at OG or OT, for a long time in the NFL.

His arms actually aren't that short. And his footwork is pretty darn good but who knows how he'll transition in the NFL.

One player you can compare him to is former Syracuse OT and rookie for the New York Giants, Justin Pugh. Somewhat limited mesureables from your prototypical NFL OT (6'4'' 308 ibs, 32 inch arms), but he has incredible footwork. I think Martin will follow the same path.

People and scouts alike, like the "shiny" more "alluring" product [as Mayock says: "Height, Weight, Speed specimen"], but sometimes that sturdy product that will be good and last years and years is the better investment.

I for one, will be very interested in hearing how the draft evaluation process plays out for Zach.

Exactly what I was thinking. Him and Pugh are very similar prospects. I think Zach could also play Center and excel.

Late 1st-early 2nd round pick as a guard sounds about right. I'm sure he'll play well enough to not drop this year.

The game that will probably define his draft status will be the Stanford game.

OLB Trent Murphy (6'6" 261), DE Henry Anderson (6'6'' 295) and DE Ben Gardner (6'4" 277). He'll most likely go against these guys all game and they're all freakin beasts. Seriously, Stanfords front 7 is ridiculous like always..

He'll certainly have plenty of opportunities to prove himself to NFL scouts this year. I doubt there's an OT in the country who faces a tougher trio of pass rushers than Murphy, Kyle Van Noy, and Leonard Williams over the course of the season. All 3 of those guys look like future first-rounders at this point, and with Rees being a rather immobile QB you know they'll be going after him.

Might need to change Zach's title to Notre Dame Man. Only the 18th man to be a 2 time captain. Hearing Kelly talk how he keeps the o line together and the upperclassman wait over an hour to work out with the underclassmen is unbelievable.

We have amazing young talent that are being fast tracked to greatness because of Zach Martin.

I have a few favorite OL's from the Holtz days, but Zach has become my all time favorite ND OL!

He's just a stud. Didn't think the Fox crew gave him enough recognition.

This guy was a quiet favorite in my book. So consistent and professional in his approach. Will be tough to fill his shoes next year. Thank you for returning this year!

Last night was his 51st career start which if I'm not mistaken is a Notre Dame record. Good job.

I truly hope this guy gets all good things in life. He is awesome! He is down to earth, kind and considerate, as well as a possessor of one massive sense of humor. Nice to see the good guys get ahead.

Congratulations and thank you Zach!

P.S. I would be ok with seeing Notre Dame Man behind his name

Absolutely agree. This right here.

Through all the off-the-field antics and on-the-field inconsistencies, this guy was an absolute rock. He returned when he could have left. With all the Tommy bashing, there was one particular unit on the team that shouldered the weight and protected Tommy when others wouldn't, and in a nationally prominent way (ND 3rd or 4th in sacks allowed?). Martin was the clear leader of that unit.
