Be sure to throw the game on and root for Miss State. It's at Miss State, so an upset is not out of the question. I'm sure a loss could help our 60/40 edge with Gary Gray!

I think Mississippi State can compete and pull off the win, but getting 6 1/2 points at home is quite a bit.

I'll take the VisorCocks by 10.

Line opened at 6 and is now 7.

People are hammering SCar money to Vegas for the line to go up a full point.

SCAR up 3-0 at the half. Both teams look like ass. Lots of defense in this one.

Was it defense or putrid offense? Yikes what a horrible game. Once it was 15-0 I finally shut it off.

Neither one of those teams makes a bowl this year.

I think the Usc Spurriers might make a bowl game. To me, in a road game against a conference foe, a win is a win. Plus, it's the first game and the Usc starting QB missed a couple of series with an injury. Their non-con schedule includes Wofford, Florida Atlantic, and Middle Tennessee. Plus Vandy and Kentucky in SEC. Sounds like 6 wins to me.

Those are both road games they play and from the looks of them last night, I wouldn't count on that team being stellar on the road against anyone. Or anywhere for that matter.

If they go 6-6 that will be the best they do. Nice, aggressive defense but I'm curious as to how bad MSU's offense really is.

MSU's offense will be one of the worst in DI. Carolina's will be nowhere near what is expected of the Visor's teams. I wouldn't be surprised to see them get six wins. I would be surprised to see them get much more.

That was an ugly, ugly game. And I love defensive struggles.

Spurrier's demeanor

Spurrier's demeanor

I was reminded last night during that sloppy football game why I don't like Spurrier at all.
While Lou was always a 'nervous nelly' pacing the sidelines and picking at the grass, that is nothing compared to the sideline demeanor of Visor-Boy.
His countenance displays nervousness, impatience, disgust, annoyance, panic, desperation, surprise, and every other attribute you DON'T want in a head coach. Especially one who is also the play caller.

I was watching the players' faces every time the camera showed Visor-Boy in one his little snitty tantrums and they looked at him with an almost disgusted, pity.

I don't know why anybody would what to play for a coach with a personality like that much less have confidence in his leadership.

The way people talk about him down there, you'd think he was the guy who invented football.

I don't think they'll be much this year.

Gator fans have always loved him, probably always will, but there has always been the quiet rumor down here that he was a little wierd. Touched , you might say.

Didn't SCAR beat Tennessee and Florida last year? Is their roster really that much worse this year? I don't know for sure myself...

Anyway, I've alway like the Ole Ball Coach. Can't think of anyone so successful as both a cf player (he won the Heisman) and a cf coach.

The guy is hilarious:
--renamed Florida State University as "Free Shoes University" (after a shoe store gave Florida State players free shoes) .

--questioned the abilities of Head Coach Phillip Fulmer of Tennessee ("You can't spell Citrus without UT") and former Tennessee quarterback Peyton Manning ("I know why Peyton came back for his senior year, he wanted to be a three-time Citrus Bowl MVP"), in reference to the Citrus Bowl being the designated bowl for the second-choice team from the SEC.

--poked fun at a fire that burned 20 books at an Auburn University football dorm, saying "But the real tragedy was that fifteen hadn't been colored yet!"

It would be totally obnoxious if he didn't back it up:
* Six SEC titles (1991, 1993-1996, 2000)
* 3-time SEC Coach of the Year
* Became the first person to have both won a Heisman Trophy and to have coached a Heisman Trophy winner
* Won at least nine games in each of his 12 seasons at Florida, one of only three coaches in major college history with that record.
* Averaged 10 wins per season.
* Ranked in the top 15 nationally in each of his 12 seasons at Florida, including nine Top 10 finishes, five Top 5s and an average final ranking of 6.8.
* Appeared in a bowl game in each of his last 11 seasons, one of only five schools with that record.
* Spurrier is the only major college coach to win as many as 120 games in his first 12 seasons at one school (122-27-1 at Florida from 1990-2001).
* One of only two coaches in major college history to win 10 or more games in six consecutive seasons (1993-98).

Thanks to Wikipedia for the above.

And his biggest accomplishment? He turned Duke into a winner. He'll win at SCAR too, maybe not this year, but soon. He'll make life miserable for Urban Myth.

The QB is not impressive. And their defense returns only one player from last season. Rice is one heck of a WR, though.
