Maurice Stovall: Will See Significant Playing Time

Update: Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden announced Monday that Stovall has made the team, the St. Petersburg Times reports.

Recommendation: Stovall, a third-round draft pick from Notre Dame, will share third receiver duty with veteran Ike Hilliard; they'll back up Joey Galloway and Michael Clayton. "Stovall is a physical presence ... he's going to be on the football team," Gruden said. Stovall led the Bucs with four targets during the first half of Saturday's game, in which starting quarterback Chris Simms played until halftime; he'll play a key role in the Bucs' offense this season.

He may see time but he won't see much of the ball. Chris Simms is flat out awful.

Guff.........you might want to check again. Chris Simms is as good as, if not better than, Peyton Manning's little brother. What his name again? Wally?

Would have won last year's NFC divisional playoff game if not for a dropped deep ball.
He's pretty damn good. Plus he's only 12 !

I can see Stovall as a move the change's type of receiver. Throw up at the back of the endzone and he will get those also. Barring injury he can be a 8 or better td guy in the N.F.L.

Maybe not flat out awful. But mediocre at best.

Is David Boston still on the team? I remember reading that Gruden was really impressed with him.

Bucs have a lot of veterans a WR, thats good for Stovall, let him learn the system for a year or two and eventually be groomed into a very good NFL WR.

that's too bad. he'll get it sooner or later though.

and also, Arnaz Battle had 2 TDs today.

and Julius Jones had 100 yards rushing and 22 receiving yards.
