The ESPN crew predicted the following number of wins for ND this year:

Corso...........9
May............10
Holtz...........11
Herbstreit....12

And I know that a lot of people out there think that ESPN hates ND. I gotta say that I don't fall into that line of thinking. I think ESPN loves ND because we get ratings. So if we are bad, they are gonna report it and if we are good they are gonna play that side up. I don't see the "anti-ND" conspiracy that I hear so much about on-line.

Holtz is a great guy, I love him, but every time he does an interview I think he's losing his edge.

Later on the crew picked the championship match-up. Herbstreit had ND playing Miami... and I could have heard him wrong, but I think he had Miami winning???

10 wins is 3 losses, ie not that good.

As far as ESPN hating ND, well, certainly some people working for ESPN do. But while ESPN as a company does "love" ND because ND=ratings, they don't SUPPORT or ROOT FOR Nd. ND struggling mightily can be as good for ESPN as ND winning.

I can't believe Mark May gave us 10?

I hear ya brother! I don't know about an anti ND conspiracy at ESPN. I was always under the impression that the NBC contract really chapped em. But Mark May!!! Any time Notre Dame comes up in a discussion, he gets a look on his face like he's being forced to french kiss his grandmother. Then he goes into another one of his anti-Irish rants.

I still have trouble with ESPN from all their "Is the 2005 USC Team the BEST football team of all time?" specials, they ran last year prior to the Rose Bowl. I think they may have also upset Vince Young and a few other Long Horns, huh.

What I thought was funny was Herbstreits and Fowler's comment to Mark May that he had come a long way from when he predicted ND would win 2 games last year. Herbstreit is the brightest guy up there.

No, you heard him right. He predicted Miami beating ND in the BCS championship game.

I may have been jumping to conclusions here, he might not be leaving gameday after all. I thought I read that he was, but I am not so sure now. I apologize.

I think I remember hearing something about Herbstreit leaving some time ago. And then I heard that the only difference was that he would be a commentator during ABC's game of the week, but would still be doing Gameday. (ABC owns ESPN, who in turn is owned by like Time or something.) But yea, they cannot break up the team of Fowler, Corso and Herbstreit. Corso is needed there for the comic relief (though not much else) and Herbstreit is there to provide football knowledge. Fowler, eh, he is like what Chris Rose is to the Best Damn Sports Show Period. OK, but necessary, who knows. But they work well together.
