Okay, I've been peeved off with Verizon for sometime because I purchased the phone protection program and they refused to replace my LG VX6100 that I've had for 2 years and that has had terrible reception for the last 5 months.

I went into the Verizon Wireless store the other day and asked for a new phone and they once again denied me. So I moved to Cingular. Got 2 Moto Razors for $0 and got the family plan for $59.99 a month.

I got the silver one, and the wifey got the pink one. Anyone have a RZR? How do you like it? Is it hackable/customizable?

I've got a razr and I fully believe I could get reception in the caves of Tora Bora. However, they are awkward to hold imo......drop it all the time......but hey, it was free when I renewed my plan! Overall been great.....

Yeah, I dropped it already. It looks like a pebble in my hand, but I couldn't pass up getting two of them from $0 and not having to fill out any rebate forms.

I'm sure there are some forums out there on how to hack it, because I'm sure I'll want to upload my own ringtones if that's possible.

I used to come back from deployments with big money in the account and buy fancy phones. Now Im pretty convinced that all cell service providers suck and buying any phone more than $40. is throwing money away.
So I went from buying $300 phones to a $30 phone and I dont notice the difference, dont miss a thing.

Yeah, I think that cell service is overpriced so I won't pay for the phone. If I switch carriers every year or two, I'll do it as long as I get a nice phone for free especially since you can port your number which I did without any issue.

I have had Cingular for the past 7 years and have never had a problem with them. Over you get the most bang for you buck. The customer service has gotten a lot better over the past year. I also just bought a razor and so far like it. I wouldnt say I love it though because at times it is hard to hear people talking, especially if you are in an area that is somewhat crowded. I do love the speaker phone though, last phone did not have it. I think you will be happy with your switch to Cingular.

I also have a razor. It's called the V3i (as in i-tunes). I havn't downloaded any yet but it's a pretty sweet phone! I have a card in it that enhances it's memory also. I think the best way to pimp out you phone is to check out Ebay. They have all types of companies who sell these sm cards and so forth. Anyways, good luck with it and go Irish. -Don

All the major carriers offer phone replacement insurance, and in every case it's a sucker's bet. They get guaranteed money up front. If something happens, they require a large deductible to get a replacement, if you qualify at all. It's across the board, not just Verizon. I know (my friend's law firm has one suit at least against a major carrier). Better not to take the insurance and to hope for the best.

my father has the razr and he loves it. my father and i both use cingular and rarely ever have any problems with the phone, statements etc. We once both had verizon and my god did we hate it. bills were always wrong, reception ws always in and out, etc. hell, we'd get billed for calls for numbers of people we've never heard of. just really fishy

Well, I had used my insurance before and had to pay no deductible. Well, actually $8.00.

The real question now is, have you downloaded the Notre Dame fight song and made it your ringtone for everyone that calls. I think it's under $3 and worth every penny!

Actually downloading the software to do so right now. I don't pay for ringtones, graphics, etc... I usually hack my phones so I can upload all the junk I want for FREE. I'm frugal.

I have ringback tones with Verizon. So whenver someone calls me, the hear "Please enjoy the music while your party is being reached." And then the caller hears the fight song until I answer the phone.

I'm quite proud to say that I don't carry a cellphone. I love the looks on people faces when they ask for my cell number and I tell them I don't have one - it is a look of absolute shock. The only other way that I could even come close to inducing such a look would be to drop my pants to my ankles.
