Hey everyone, i just wanted to let you all know that tomorrow on the Jim Rome radio show Charlie and Lou Holtz will be on at different times doing interviews...i love it when Rome has Coach on he does so well...and i dont know of to many other college coaches who go on the show as much as he does...i think it is good, i bet a lot of student athletes and recruits listen to the show, it is the best show on radio period!

I like the idea of getting a little jungle karma.

(I was hoping that my 500th post would be more impressive)

how do you consider jim romes radio show the best show on the air? All he ever does is criticize(sp?) everyone he can in a very classless, sarcastic manner(usually with two other guests that have no ties to sports other than they are just fans who are well renown; i remember the host of blind date once giving america his opinion on why nd didnt deserve to be in a bcs game over oregon last year.... THE GUY FROM BLIND F'ING DATE!!) ........it is really hard to listen to it coming from him just because jim rome has never done anything in sports as an athlete.........I mean if mike ditka criticizes lovie smith or the bears for something ill respect his opinion, hes done it before...........but jim rome? I bet a majority of the people in my office have had more prominent althletic careers that jim rome (and they dont have as much cheesy facial hair either)..........anyhow I think jim romes show is the worst one on the air just because im still waiting for the answer to the question: when did jim rome every do anything in sports or covering sports that has made his opinion mean, i dunno, anything worth listening to?...........

well, i was refering to the radio show, i think you may be thinking of his tv show...what did he do in sports? nothing, what did Howard Cossell(sp), Al Michaels, or Bob Costas do in sports? nothing, but most people look at what they say, or have said as truth and meaningful sports commentary. As far as him constantly criticizing, i dont know if you hear enough of him...sure he raggs on people who deserve it, say an athlete getting busted for DUI's or assult, or if they say something that is waaaayyyy off and ridiculous, but he is also very quick to give props to those who deserve it...i say listen to what he says before, and after Coach is on tomorrow...i will put money on the fact that he will be giving Charlie much love after tomorrow...besides his show is very entertaining, and funny. I hear what you are saying, and i can respect the fact that you dont like him, i personally do, and i know many many American sports fans do as well. I also realize that is show is a aquired taste for some, i say give it a week of listening , and you might come around.

I can't stand Jim Rome's show. Specifically, I can't stand the guys that sit at home in the basement everyday stroking themselves waiting to call in and talk smack about another basement stroker across the country. The "clones" barely speak English, it seems.

I don't like Rome's stupid pauses and I don't enjoy his jargon. Just talk sports. A middle aged man trying to make it sound hip and pulling smack talk just doesn't work for me.

I'll say this, though. The guy is very good at one on one interviews with coaches and athletes. He knows his stuff about sports. He comes prepared and knows which questions to ask. If he ever settled down and talked sports and cut out the childish calls and e-mails, he's have a very good show. The "clones" all tell the same jokes over and over anyway.

As for the other subject: Some of the best sports talk hosts and announcers never played the games. And some of the worst were great athletes. Just give me a guy who speaks well and does his homework and he'll be OK.

Scoop, but that's what makes his show so good to his audience. You either love him or hate him, but those that do love him, simply worship him.

Anyhow, I just caught the Weis interview and how can you not absolutely love Weis? Everytme I hear that man speak, he just makes me feel at ease. We would have been lost without him here as our coach. Only players he really mentioned by name were Brady Quinn and Travis Thomas.
