I don't doubt that it took place. It's the way it gets reported ala Cumbie's tale plus the photos.
Parent's, spouses, principals, and salespeople all use the look me in the eye technique. It's an effective closing tool but it's high risk.
When your girl friend says, "Look me in the eye and tell me you love me" you better not look away, hesitate, or start laughing. Or you'll have lots of time to spend on recruiting boards.
